St Mary's School Blenheim Friday 22nd July 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Kia ora koutou Te Kura O Hato Mere whanau,
What a glorious day to be reconnecting with you all. The sun is shining and after this morning’s brutal frost we have a stunning day to fully recuperate and look forward to the start of another exciting term here at Te Kura O Hato Mere.
I hope that although the weather has been slightly inclement over the break that you as a whanau have taken the opportunity to truly reconnect with each other and made the effort to leave home and do activities together at the stunning parks and outdoor facilities available to us here in Marlborough.
I am looking forward to this term as we move swiftly into August and through the cold wet months to longer days and more sunshine at the end of the term. As with all schools last term we had our fair share of students and staff away with illness.
Over this break period I hope all of your beautiful children have recovered and are feeling fantastic, ready to come back to school and spend time enjoying their learning while with their friends. All staff are back on board as well and looking forward to reconnecting with our hapori whānui.
This term we celebrate the Assumption of Mary on Monday 15th August with a school mass in the hall. This is an important time for us as a school as we are named after our mother, Mary is also the patron saint of New Zealand.
We focus on the attributes Mary had, the great mother she was to Jesus and is to us all. The sacrifices she made and her willingness to be the mother of Jesus, God's only son. It is a time of peaceful reflection and celebration of her life and the gifts she gave us all.
I pray and ask that you all enjoy the final few days together as a whanau. As a staff we are all very excited to have your beautiful children shining their light’s back here at school on Monday morning.
May God Bless you all,
Yours ‘In Christ’s Light’
Paddy

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPERNING AT TE KURA O HATO MERE ?
LITTLE THEATRE
Thanks to the support of the Lenora Freeth Trust and faith in us by Mr. John Lundon we have made significant progress to the refurbishment of the Little Theatre throughout the holidays. Mr Bernie Breen our builder has lined the inside of the building and also managed through the inclement weather to re-clad the exterior on the two affected walls where windows have been removed and doors and windows put in their place.
Once the plaster is dry the ceiling and walls will be painted and we can have the concrete floor prepared for the carpet to go down. We plan to have this space opened as soon as possible and formally opened with a blessing in Labour Weekend.
I will keep you updated with more photos as progress is made.
TREES TREES AND MORE TREES
Last Saturday in the middle of an extremely cold morning with a solid frost Mr Daivd Shoemark made his way to school and proceeded to dig 70 holes in preparation for the trees to be planted upon their arrival. You may have noticed some sizable mole hills around the boundary of school as you have driven passed. They are in fact holes ready for the trees.
It is a very exciting time for the school and for our community as we look forward to the trees arriving and once again beautifying our school with a stunning landscape.
