- Her Achievements are that she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996 for being the First Lady of Civil Rights. She also received the Golden Plate Award in 1995
- Died on October 24, 2005 in Detroit, Michigan
Getting Arrested
She got arrested because being a black, she had to sit in the back of the bus and the whites sat in the front. But she decided to sit in the front with the whites. She refused to move to the back standing up for her writes.
Presidential Medal of Freedom
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States. The Medal of Freedom is the Nation’s highest civilian honor, presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.
Golden Plate Award
The Golden Plate Award has been presented since 1961 by the Academy of Achievement to approximately guests of honor at the International Achievement Summit.
