Assistant Principal's Message
As we return from break Coffee with the Principal on October 13th, will include a Parent Walkthrough, where parents will be invited to take a tour through classrooms to see what is going on here at Rancho del Rey. This is a way for parents to understand the hard work and effort teachers put into their lessons and how students are learning here. The walkthroughs and debrief will be led by administrators so that there is consistency and a way for parents to voice concerns and any great things that they saw. The information will be shared with teachers as well.
We continue to support students with the Earn Your Fridays Homework Club where every other Friday students who have not completed their homework must stay from 12:15 - 2:00 p.m. in order to complete those missing assignments. This ensures student success and also reminds them that not turning in homework IS NOT an option. Holding students accountable means greater success for them in the long run.
Thank you for your support!

Long Range Facility Master Plan Town Hall Meeting
The Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) is re-engaging processes to update the comprehensive Long Range Facility Master Plan. This current draft includes information from community meetings, school site meetings, District-wide on-line survey data, current education adequacy review by consultants, condition assessment of existing buildings and technology. The SUHSD vision for completing the update to the 10 year Long Range Facility Master Plan is to engage the stakeholders to attend a round of community meetings starting in October 2015.
The Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) is asking the stakeholders to provide insight to their schools in the District. Stakeholders’ insight to their schools are the key cornerstone to a successful Long Range Master Plan for the next 10 years. We understand that stakeholders are in contact with the schools everyday and hold the greatest knowledge and understanding of the needs of their schools.

Guidelines for Parents: When To Keep a Sick Student Home
It is not always easy to determine when your child should attend school or be kept home. Here are some guidelines based on public health science to help.
Keep home if:
* Fever with temperature measured by a thermometer over 100.5 orally, or 101 by ear scan
* Runny nose, coughing AND congestion...all these symptoms or just one very severe one result in difficulty concentrating
* Sore throat, if it is very painful and difficult to swallow, EVEN if no fever is present. See a doctor to rule our strep throat if symptoms persist
* Earache that is so sever child is unable to sleep or they are crying. Earaches are not contagious, and if pain is controlled with over the counter medicine then send child to school
* Vomiting &/or diarrhea is caused by virus or bacteria and is contagious.
* Rashes that are unusual, severe, especially with fever and changes in behavior could be a sign of contagious virus or bacteria
* Ringworm is a contagious fungal disease and should be under treatment before sending your child to school
* Impetigo is a contagious skin infection that occurs on the skin. Students may return to school after under treatment for 24 hours.
* EYE INFECTIONS: Keep your child home if eye(s) appear very red or there is discharge
