ProStart Culinary & Management Students
Franklin High School ProStart Culinary and Management students received high scores at the 2022 Wisconsin ProStart Invitational this week in Madison. The students competed against students from across Wisconsin in both the Culinary Competition and the Restaurant Management Competition. The teams were led by Mrs. Sarah Heinevetter and mentored by Melissa, Sam, and Ross from Odd Duck restaurant.
The Culinary Team, featuring Morgan Slater, Juliana Beadle and Nate Engel, had one hour to prepare a three course fine dining meal, and were judged on knife skills, team work, sanitation, menu presentation, and flavor.
The Restaurant Management Team, starring Madyson Juszczak, Jacob Daniels and Sophia Gulczynski, demonstrated their knowledge of the restaurant industry by developing and presenting a business proposal and visual display for potential investors in a new restaurant concept. The team was also tested on their critical thinking skills by reacting to potential management challenges related to their restaurant concept. And, we are excited to say that the Franklin High School Team took 1st Place in the Wisconsin Competition and will be competing at the National ProStart Invitational May 6-8 in Washington, DC!
