WBSD CLOSED - MARCH 10TH
Dear West Bloomfield families,
Due to the expected, higher than usual voter turnout for the upcoming presidential primary election coming up on March 10, 2020, we have decided to CLOSE school on Tuesday, March 10. Four of our schools (Doherty, Gretchko, Scotch and OLMS) serve as election precincts in our community and there will be additional traffic and visitors to those buildings throughout the day.
The ballot for the upcoming presidential primary election is also longer than usual which will mean voters taking longer to fill out their selections and subsequently longer lines at polling places. Given the tenor surrounding this election and for the reasons mentioned above, we have decided to close school on March 10 to avoid any issues.
We understand the inconvenience this creates for our families and their schedules. We wanted to make this decision early to give our families time to make the necessary childcare arrangements for March 10.
We hope this day off from school will give our staff and students of voting age an additional opportunity to exercise their right to vote and participate in the democratic process. For more information on the election, please visit www.oakgov.com.
Once again, the West Bloomfield School District will be CLOSED on Tuesday, March 10.
We truly appreciate your continued support and understanding.
Dr. Gerald Hill
