Harris Weekly Update
APRIL 26 - APRIL 30
Harris Hawks Kindness Week!
Harris is teaming up with the Town of Gilbert to celebrate "Gilbert Kindness Week" from April 25th-May 2nd! Every student will bring home a bag filled with fun ideas on how to celebrate. Take pictures of different ways you show kindness to your family and the community. Share with us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook using our hashtag: #HarrisHawksKindnessWeek
Any family that submits a picture by May 2nd will be automatically entered into a drawing to win one of four gift cards to KOHL'S.
Thank you for helping us spread kindness!
PARENT PICK UP/DROP OFF
During our parent drop-off/pick-up times, if you choose to park in the parking lot, then you must escort your student(s) across the parking lot area as there will be no staff members available to do so.
In addition, the designated handicap parking spaces are for those with a handicap parking sticker ONLY. Too many folks are parking in these spaces illegally while waiting for the bell to ring. The Mesa Police department has been notified and will start issuing citations. You may notice their presence throughout the remainder of the year to ensure these spaces are being used appropriately.
We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
PTSO 2021/22 Election
As we reach the end of the school year, its time to start thinking about next year! That also includes PTSO elections. If you have been wanting to be more involved in your children's school, this is a great opportunity. You are always welcome to volunteer, but if you would like to be an executive board member, of the Parent Teacher Student Organization, there are four positions.
President:
You represent the board and are the liaison between your board, the administration and the community. Preside and conduct board meetings, be sure all paperwork is signed and filed, sign checks and know the budget, plan and execute events and fundraisers.
Vice President:
An assistant to the President, may hold meetings and other duties in the absence of the president. Perform other delegated duties as needed.
Treasurer:
Manages the funds of the organization. Keeps an accurate account of all monies received and paid out, assists with the budget and provide an financial statement at each meeting.
Secretary:
Keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all the meetings, including voting, financial statements, etc. Perform other delegated duties as needed.
If you would like to run for one of the above positions, please contact us with your name and what position you would like to run for, and we will add you to the ballot. The deadline to be added to the ballot is Friday, April 30. Voting will take place during the week of May 3-7. Please email us at gilbertharrisptso@gmail.com or dayna.cole@gilbertschools.net

What Does It Mean To Be A Title I School?
Title I is the largest federal aid program for public schools. Schools can be designated as “Title I” if certain criteria are met. Title I is the federal government’s commitment to closing the achievement gap between low-income and moderate to high income students. These funds are used to help all students meet academic standards. Click the links below to learn more!
