Year 7
Just a bit of a recap:
Make sure the Respect Sticker is in new books now as well if students are starting to finish their books
Please continue to use the big picture slides at the beginning of every lesson- it's linked here if you want it now
- Everything we are looking at in terms of the scheme is here
- It is geared to the Non Fiction paper at the moment that the students will be sitting, located here
- If you follow the scheme and question types/Assessment Focusses each week you will have covered everything
- Feel free to use ASA's Y7 resources here
What skill needs to be worked on?
This week's skill is a letter to someone in a formal manner.
IF ANYONE HAS JUMPED ON AND ALREADY DONE THE LETTER, THEN YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK AND REPEAT SOME OF THE COMPARISON STUFF, TO GIVE STUDENTS THE BEST CHANCE TO PICK OUT AND COMPARE INFO- FEEL FREE TO USE MY STUFF HERE.
The suggested topic is mobile phone usage, but I accept that this is as dull as dishwater. The formal letter stuff from the beginning of the year in the Me Myself and I scheme can be recycled and used again- please do share and you are welcome to use mine from that scheme, which can be found somewhere in here. Other more engaging topics could be-
- Is technology ruining our lives?
- Should all students have laptops provided by school?
- Is internet access a human right?
- Is social media a waste of time?
Year 8
Make sure the Respect Sticker is in new books now as well if students are starting to finish their books
Moving onto the mystery scheme. Please find a suitable text from the stock cupboard- stock list is here
Scheme itself is here
What skill needs to be worked on?
Dead simple- thoughts and feelings. Picking out evidence to explain thoughts and feelings, trying to get more technical, thinking about adjectives, adverbs and so forth. To help open up discussion, you could-
- Hotseat
- Roleplay
- Assume role of author of your novel and explain choices of words and so on
Year 9
- Non fiction- again trying to get a more technical focus. Fish around my stuff here if it helps.
