The world's environments
Rainforest Biome
The rainforest is always warm and very wet. Many different animals and insects can be found there such as beetles, snakes, spiders, lizards, frogs, toucans, parrots, jaguars, and sloths. In the rainforest, vines can be very thick and can grow up to 3,000 ft long! It is also home to the Victorian water lily and bromeliad. You can find ceiba and kapok trees towering over the rainforest vegetation.
Deciduous Forest Bioma
Deciduous forests have warm and cold seasons. Many different types of animals can be found there such as deer, bears, skunk, raccoon's, and wood mice. There are also a variety of insects, birds, arachnids, and reptiles. The forest have three levels of plants. At the first level you can find moss, lichen, fern, and wildflowers. At the second level there are shrubs. Trees such as maple, sweet gum, beech, birch, magnolia, and oak make up the forest third level.
Desert Biome
The desert is hot and very dry. The most common type of plant found in deserts are cacti and rock plants. They are able to accumulate moisture in their tissues. Some animals that might be found in the desert are the coyote, roadrunner, camel, vulture, black widow spider, rattlesnake, and scorpion.
Tundra Biome
The tundra is dry and cold. Several different types of moss such as the caribou moss and arctic moss can be found in the tundra. Other plants that are found there are the diamond leaf willow and the pasque flower. In the tundra you can find polar bears, arctic fox, white wolves, grizzly bears, bald eagles, and caribou.
Grasslands Biome
The grasslands have wet and dry seasons. It is warm but it often has a cold season. In the grasslands, you can find bison, coyotes, prairie dogs, wolves, swift foxes, pronghorns, and badgers. There are no trees or shrubs in the grasslands but there is no shortage of grass. There are many different types of grass such as foxtail, ryegrass, wild oats, and buffalo grass.
Taiga Biome
It is always cold in the taiga. You will not find many plants that can survive the cold weather of the taiga but you will find coniferous trees such as the white spruce, douglas fir, pine, and hemlock. Most of the animals are predators like wolverines, lynx, bobcat, ermine, and minks. They hunt other animals such as the snowshoe rabbit and voles.
Ocean Biome
The ocean is always wet! The ocean can be cold or warm. You can find seaweed, algae, and some aquatic plants in the ocean. Mainly you will find seaweed, lots and lots of seaweed! There are many different types of animals in the ocean. The main ones that are found coastal are fish, jellyfish, and sharks. In open water you can find turtles, dolphins, and whales.
