What is Staphylococcus Aureus?
Staphylococcus aureus, also known as staph infection, is a group of bacteria that can cause other diseases. It's is a genus of bacteria that is characterized by a round shape and found as either single cells, in pairs, or more frequently, in clusters that resemble a bunch of grapes.
How can someone get staph infection?
Almost any organ system can be infected by staphylococcus aureus. Most frequently, it strains first infect the skin and its structures or invade damaged skin. Sometimes the infections are relatively limited but sometimes it may spread to other skin areas. It's very contagious and someone can get staph infection by skin-to-skin contact like handshaking and hugging or by touching something that's contaminated like a door handle or a blanket.

How do you treat staph infection?
There are two main types of treatment for staph infections, surgical and antibiotic treatment.
How do you prevent from getting staph infection?
It is almost impossible to prevent contact with the bacteria. Most staph bacteria are transmitted by person-to-person contact, but viable staph on surfaces of clothing, sinks, and other objects can contact skin and cause infections.
