Lakes Eagles Booster Club Bid It! to Win It! Online Auction
Tardies and Absences, Oh my!
As the weather is getting warmer (most days) and we are all adjusting to the time change, I find myself in need of your partnership - students and families. We are seeing an alarming number of students that are coming tardy to school - just last Thursday we had over 100 students tardy to first hour. This makes learning more challenging for the student and their classmates (especially first hour).
While I agree our parking lot is very crowded from 7:45 am to 8:00 am - I often tell our students we are as popular as an (insert your favorite rock star) concert every single morning - please plan ahead and arrive to Lakes by 7:45 am.
Be aware that chronically tardy students could experience:
Losing open-campus lunch
Relinquishing store-bought drinks/food (Starbucks, Dunkin', McDonald’s… that might be causing the delay) that can be picked up after school
Losing on-campus parking access
Lunch detention
After school detention
Do not hesitate to reach out if you have specific feedback for me to assist with tardies or absences. I'm always interested in hearing from you.
Thank you all for your help in getting students in class and on-time!
Respectfully,
Principal Jori Bowen

Illinois P/SAT School Day Digital Assessment April 11, 2024
Upcoming Assessment
WHO? All LCHS freshmen (PSAT 8/9), sophomores (PSAT 10), and juniors (SAT). No need to register. Seniors: this is a non- attendance day.
WHAT? The State of Illinois and Lakes Community High School want all students to experience the PSAT or SAT for college planning. For juniors, the SAT is a graduation requirement. Families will be able to plot student growth through the three tests to predict SAT scores by creating a student College Board account. This account should be in the STUDENT’S NAME. AP students already have an account created; be sure not to create a second account. The junior year SAT includes the essay section and can be sent to colleges during the application process.
End of Semester 2
The end of the school year will be here before you know it, click here for end of semester 2 details!

District 117 Collegepalooza, March 21, Antioch Community High School
The 2nd District 117 Collegepalooza post-secondary planning program will take place on Thursday, March 21st, 6:30 pm, at Antioch Community High School.
Collegepalooza offers seven educational opportunities over three time slots. Sessions include: College of Lake County, State of the State (updates on public universities in IL with representatives from Illinois State University and University of Illinois- Urbana/Champaign), Out-of-state Public Colleges/Universities, Liberal Arts education, Financial Aid with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), and The Future of College Admissions Testing.
FAFSA Update for the Class of 2024
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024- 2025 academic year is now open. Once the FAFSA is complete it will produce a Student Aid Index (SAI) (formerly Expected Family Contribution (EFC)). The SAI will appear as part of your FAFSA Submission Report (formerly known as Student Aid Report (SAR)).
At this point in time completion of the FAFSA is not producing the FAFSA Submission Report and colleges/universities cannot upload the information. It is estimated that this information will be available to them until “mid-March.” As a result you may find that institutions are pushing back their candidate reply dates from May 1 to May 15 or June 1.
As seniors are completing non-institutional scholarship applications some are requiring their SAI number. If the FAFSA submission report is not available, please feel free to use the following FAFSA Estimator. https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/ This tool will produce an estimated SAI that can be used for scholarship applications.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Bargar at nathan.bargar@chsd117.org or 847-395-9388 with any questions that you may have.
Class of 2024 College Transcript Information
Official transcripts are now available for the class of 2024. Seniors can request their transcripts by clicking the following link. A District 117 email is required to complete the form. This form and all other resources needed for completing college applications can be found in the "Classwork" section of the Class of 2024 College and Career Center Google Classroom.
Career Connect
Career Connect visits are a great opportunity for students to learn about non-college post-secondary options. Employers of all sorts will be visiting Lakes to discuss their workforce opportunities. Career Connect visits can be found on Twitter (@LCHSStudentServ), Instagram (lakescollegeandcareercenter), the daily announcements, and the Class of 2024 and 2025 College and Career Center Google Classrooms.
