5th Grade at Bear Creek Elementary
Week 19: January 10th - January 14th
Dear Families,
We hope you had a wonderful weekend!
We have a full week this week. However, next Monday (1/17) students do not have school.
This Wednesday the students will complete their middle of the year reading MAP assessment and on Thursday they will complete the middle of the year math MAP assessment. This district test is given to track academic progress and will not show up on the third nine weeks report card.
This week Ms. Grotte's homeroom will go to the library with Mrs. Saenz and Mr. Linnell's class will have a counseling lesson with Ms. Devins.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you ever have any questions or concerns:
Sincerely,
Ms. Grotte and Mr. Linnell
What we're doing in class this week...
In social studies, we are studying the industrial revolution. Students will be researching and learning about the cottage system of production and the factory system of production. We will be having a class discussion on the benefits and limitations of both systems.
In ELAR, we are learning the roots "vis, vid" meaning "to see or look". We are also reviewing informational text, author's purpose and combining sentences.
Math: This week we will focus on customary and metric units of measurement. We will create an input/output table to convert units of measurement. See your child's weekly Personal Learning Path (PLP) for more information. To see how your child is performing academically, feel free to check their "Progress Monitoring Sheet". You can also check the "Study Guide" BLEND page for tips on how to help your child in math.
Science: We will use Quizlet sets to review past science topics. See your child's weekly Personal Learning Path (PLP) for more information. To see how your child is performing academically, feel free to check their "Progress Monitoring Sheet". You can also check the "Study Guide" BLEND page for tips on how to help your child in science.
