Volunteers Needed!
The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl
The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl will soon be here. The competition will be held at Bunche Middle School on Saturday, January 28, 2017. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is an exclusive reading competition designed for elementary, middle school, and high school students to assess their knowledge of the Georgia Book Award nominees in a quiz bowl format. Our students have been doing very well in the previous competitions. We have a great team this year that have been working very hard to prepare themselves for the event; however, we need your help. All teams need to provide two volunteers to serve as time keepers, score keepers, moderators, or assist with registration. Please help our students achieve their goal and volunteer for the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all of the volunteers.

Help Kids Get Their BookFlix Fix
Scholastic has extended free access to BookFlix for every child in Georgia through Tuesday, Feb. 28. This digital literacy resource pairs animated storybooks with related nonfiction titles to reinforce early reading skills and develop essential real-world knowledge.
The vibrant animation, rich audio, and interactive games make BookFlix a perfect tool to engage and support beginning readers from Pre-K to third grade. BookFlix helps students:
- read and comprehend literature and information text,
- respond to texts that are read aloud, and
- acquire grade-appropriate vocabulary.
Your kids can continue reading today.
