Wellness Wednesday
Your Counselor - Ms. Mutter, & PBSES Coach - Ms. Kusunose
From Ms. Kusunose
Hello! At first glance, you may think kindness and joy are but one. Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Joy is a feeling of happiness and pleasure. This week, the focus is on JOY. Some questions to ponder:
- What brings ME joy?
- What do I do to bring joy to OTHERS?
Some find that there are skills children can practice to be better at feeling joy.
- Gratitude
- Embracing challenges
- Reframing negative thoughts
- Mindful meditation = Decrease stress = Happy Feelings
- Practice of compassion
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the sunshine.
For Student:
Mindful Meditation: Breathing Practice (2 minutes)
Breathing Rainbow - Go Noodle (12 minutes)
For Student and Family:
Find 3 bags and write down ideas of feelings that are:
1. Too Positive
2. Just Right
3. Too Negative
Open up the discussion about why your feelings may go into each of the bags and what changes you can make to move them from one bag to another.
Joy Challenge Video:
From Ms. Mutter
When I feel especially down, I will often write down some of the things that really make me feel joyful, so that I can take extra care to make time for them. Below is an example of what this looks like for me. Hopefully it can inspire you to do the same for yourselves!
