Taiga
The Taiga if found in a large portion of Canada, Asia, and Europe. There is a wide range of temperatures between winter and summer. The winters are long and cold, the summers are short and cool. Precipitation is moderately high through the year with snow occurring in the winter months.
Weather and Climate
The weather of the Taiga is is a very cold and wet with ong servere winters (with an average temperature below freezing), and very short summers (only about 50 to 100 days without a frost. A long range of temperatures between the lows winter and highs of summer. The average amount of percipitation is 15 to 20 inches, but low evaporation rates makes for the humid climate.
Landforms of the Taiga
Mountians and Valleys
The Taiga is full of mountians and streems that make up of the rocky lands.
Forest
The Taiga has lots of forest and trees that lose there leves in the winter and fall, then they grow back in the short spring and summer.
Plains and Rolling Hills
The Taiga also has lots of plains and rolling hills which are home to lots of different plants and animals.
Biotic Factors
Animals that live in the Taiga
Some animals that live in the Taiga are the eagles, wolves, foxes, mountian lions, bears, lynx, and various members of the weasel family live in the Taiga. Some plants are needleleef, coniferous trees, the evergreen spouse, fir, and pines.
People
There are very few people that live in the Taiga, and there areole a few large cities in the Taiga, such as Moscow and Toronto, of the wich are very unpopulated. There are a few native communities in the Taiga. Major industries are logging, mining, and hydroelectric development. These activities have had a nagitve impact on the areas of this biome, and may continue to to have a nagitve inpact I've the area in the coming future. A majority of logging in the Taiga is bone by clear cutting, and using heavy machinery to to remove much of the forest. Hydrologic energy may sound like a good thing, but it has damaged the Taiga stream habitats and flow patterns, flooding large areas, and changing the landscape. Mining is also bad because it can pollute the soils and water, and can cause acid rain.
Catastrophic Events
The Tiaga is suscepitible to wild fires. Wild fires are one of the most horrific natral disasters.
