Mrs. Turner's March Newsletter
March 1, 2024
Spring is approaching and learning is in full swing here at FES. This time of year students make the most academic and social learning improvements. Please make school a priority. The weather is starting to change and we are seeing a glimpse of spring. It can be challenging to keep the students focused on learning. What can you do to make school a top priority for your child?
- Make attendance your number one priority.
- Talk about school activities and what your child has learned that day.
- Remain positive. Try to set a positive example for your child. If you show a positive attitude, your child will have a more positive attitude towards learning as well.
As we move forward with this semester, I want to remind you that your child's education is an ongoing process of learning, growing, and evolving. I encourage you to keep lines of communication open with your child's teacher and be actively involved in his/her education.

Preschool & Kindergarten Screening
Preschool screening is scheduled for April 9th & 10th. Kindergarten screening is scheduled for April 11th & 12th. Please call the elementary office at 417-546-6381 to schedule your child's screening appointment.
State Testing
Third and fourth grades will be taking the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) test this spring. The Missouri Assessment Program assesses students’ progress toward mastery of the Show-Me Standards which are the educational standards in Missouri. The Grade-Level Assessment is a yearly standards-based test that measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Missouri.
The tests are required so we are asking that you schedule doctor appointments around testing days. Third and fourth grades will be testing April 23, 24 & 25th and April 30th, May 1st & 2nd. There will be incentives for students that have perfect attendance during testing days. The other thing we ask is that your child gets a good night's sleep and have a high protein breakfast on testing days. Additional information regarding testing will be sent home in the near future.
