Gayman Gazette
One Team! - April 14th Edition
A Message From the Principal
Dear Gayman Families,
The news that all Pennsylvania schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 year has brought many emotions. Please know, the Gayman staff is here for you. We have been touched by the support, kindness, and compassion that our community has provided and we are grateful everyday that we work at Gayman Elementary School. As Dr. Kopicki stated in his message, we are committed to continuing with our continuity of education plan and will continue to provide the best instruction possible under these circumstances. Our most important role during this time is to help support the emotional wellness of our students. Even though we cannot be together physically in our school building, we will continue to show our pride through everything that we do and how we care for one another.
Take care and know that you and your family are missed,
Kelly Carter

Specials and Instrumental Music in Distance Learning Phase Two:
Our next phase of Distance Learning will provide new skills, knowledge and concepts. Beginning on April 14th: Art, Music, Library, and Gym will be added to your routine as a required 20-minute block during your regularly scheduled specials day or during the week at a time convenient for you and your family. Quest will begin posting assignments beginning the week of April 20th due to their continued technology support within their building communities.
All specialist assignments will be posted within SeeSaw. If you are not using SeeSaw with your homeroom teacher, the application is accessible through the Clever app on Office 365.
Instrumental Music assignments will also be posted on SeeSaw with the expectation that band and orchestra students will try to fit in their weekly practicing requirements within the ‘flex time’ that is built into their daily schedule.
Any questions, please ask a specialist. Thank you!

Tech Support from Mr. Shaw
Parents, do you have questions navigating the technology related to Distance Learning?
Please feel free to reach out to Mr. Shaw, our QUEST teacher! Not only does he teach QUEST, but Mr. Shaw also provides technical support to both parents and teachers. Feel free to email him at jshaw@cbsd.org or message him in Seesaw. He's here to help!
Student Placement 2020-2021
Even though our building is closed, the school year is still moving forward. Therefore, over the next few months, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for the 2020-2021 school year. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher.
Class placement is made after reviewing a considerable amount of data. If you feel that we would benefit from additional information, you are welcome to send an email directly to me at kcarter@cbsd.org by May 1st. Consider describing a classroom environment that would be beneficial to your son/daughter. In addition, share any information regarding academic, social or emotional information that you would like us to consider. You should not name a specific teacher. District staffing is not complete until June and teaching assignments may change. Please use this opportunity to speak to your child's strengths and needs. Please note: requests for specific teachers will not be considered.
Thank you,
Kelly Carter
Gayman School Grounds
Under Governor Wolf's directive, all schools in Pennsylvania are closed until further notice. This closure includes all stadiums, athletic facilities, playgrounds, and parking lots. Our facilities and grounds will remain closed and secured during the governor’s stay at home order. Our local police would like to remind us that everyone needs to stay off school properties during this school closure. Thank you!
