Lanoka Harbor School Newsletter
March 2024
Dear Lanoka Families,
We would like to congratulate Mrs. Ferruzza on being selected as the Lanoka Harbor School Teacher of the Year! This is an honor that is well deserved, and knowing the quality of the teachers in the building, it is a well-earned recognition. As she brings a high level of musical instruction and performances to the children of Lanoka, Mrs. Ferruzza also brightens the building with her caring demeanor, warm smile, and collegial approach. Mrs. Ferruzza has also impacted the Lanoka Harbor School family outside of the classroom. As a parent of former Lanoka Harbor School students and as a Lacey Township resident, Mrs. Ferruzza is continually making positive impacts within the community. Congratulations again Mrs. Ferruzza!
We are heading into that long part of the year we call March. This is the time of year when parents, students, and teachers dig deep to persevere through the end of winter. As spring arrives and the weather improves, we begin to be aware of the shrinking time we have left in this school year with so much left yet to do. We have many fun and exciting activities planned as we head into our last trimester of school. Of course, most would not be possible without the continued and awesome support of our PTO, and the efforts of our incredible staff. Thank you to all who make Lanoka Harbor School what it is.
Together we are better, and the Power is Always in The PRIDE!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Brewer, Principal
KIDS HEART CHALLENGE UPDATE
In February, Lanoka Harbor School was thrilled to support the American Heart Association by teaching our students and families how to take care of their hearts through the Kids Heart Challenge program. Students were asked to spread awareness and help raise money to fight heart disease and stroke.
Over the past few weeks, students had fun learning about their hearts with the Heart Heroes while raising money to help fund lifesaving research. With a few more days to go, our school has done an amazing job! We have raised $18,605.68 in donations, and 240 students registered! We surpassed our goal of $17,000.00 in donations, and 230 students registered. We are also happy to report that Lanoka Harbor School has completed the principal's challenge goal and has earned $500 towards PE equipment! Thank you to all who have contributed, we are always amazed by the generosity of our Lanoka Harbor School family!
MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS
To help Lanoka Harbor School celebrate music in our schools month, Mrs. Ferruzza will be choosing two students from her music classes each day to be The Music Students of the Day. These students will be chosen based on their hard work and good behavior in the area of music. In addition, one recorder student of the day will be chosen daily and one band or chorus student will be chosen each day by Mrs. Meelheim, Mrs. Gauthier, and Mrs. Ferruzza. At the end of the week, one class will be chosen from each grade level as Music Class of the Week.
All students are reminded to do their best in music class and practice their recorder/band instrument! HAPPY MUSIC MONTH!
LACEY LIBRARY ART SHOW
March is Youth Art Month and the Lacey Township Library is holding a student art show to celebrate. Artworks created by students in Lacey are on display at the library through March. Lanoka Harbor’s featured artists are:
