Our Mission: “To share the Good News of Jesus Christ, teach children, and assist parents in training children to be witnessing Christians and productive citizens.”
Weekly Devotion
John 11:25-27 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in
me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall
never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the
Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! I pray you all had a blessed Easter.
What’s more, I pray you continue to have a blessed Easter! Our joy and celebration isn’t
limited to the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (that’s how
the date of Easter is determined each year). When we declare that Christ is risen, we
mean He IS risen! He’s STILL RISEN, and He will never be un-risen! We are an
Easter people, our joy never ends, for we have been joined to Christ’s death and
resurrection in our baptism.
Christ is risen; it’s a fact established by the eyewitness testimony of a ton of people. He
had told His disciples numerous times it was going to happen. And it did. Not long
before Jesus was put to death, His good friend Lazarus had died. After it seemed like
Jesus dragged His feet for a few days, He finally made His way to where he was buried.
He’s greeted by Martha, who says that had Jesus been there sooner, her brother
wouldn’t have died. John 11:25-27 record the ending of Jesus’ conversation with Martha,
where she confesses that she knows her brother will rise again at the resurrection. And
Jesus responds by telling her that He is the resurrection and the life, and that anyone
who believes in Him and dies, will live.
It seems like a bold statement! But it is one that Jesus would back-up. It wasn’t long
after that Jesus gave up His life into death upon the cross as the payment for the debt of
our sins. They laid His body in a tomb, and three days later, when the women went to
anoint His body, they were astonished to find the stone rolled away. They were even
more astonished to see an angel sitting there, who declared to them that Jesus was not
there, but He had risen from the dead, just as He said He would.
Jesus was able to tell Martha, and all who believe in Him, that He is the resurrection
and the life because He knew that He was about to prove it. The resurrection of Jesus
and the empty tomb of Easter morning (and the continuously empty tomb) are the proof
that all believers in Christ Jesus will be raised to life at the resurrection of the dead on
the Last Day when Christ returns.
Let your Alleluias ring loud and clear! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
