Our District Promise
Every student in the Stanwood-Camano School District is empowered to learn in an inclusive setting and is prepared for the future of their choice.
Principal Message
Elger Bay Families,
As we continue our journey of academic excellence at Elger Bay, I wanted to take a moment to share with you one of our key focuses from our Annual Action Plan (AAP) this year.
One of our primary goals has been to provide targeted academic interventions in mathematics based on individual student data. These interventions are designed to meet the specific needs of each student, allowing for flexibility and changing every two weeks.
A particularly motivating aspect of this is the daily reflection students undertake, graphing their assessment results to track their improvement over time. This practice not only enhances their understanding of their progress but also serves as a powerful motivational tool.
We believe that this personalized approach to learning not only fosters academic growth but also instills a sense of ownership and responsibility in our students towards their education. Be on the look out for math worksheets to come home periodically as students complete their math groups.
Thank you for your ongoing support in our efforts to provide the best possible education for your children.
Warm regards,
Tim Dickinson
Principal

Spring Testing
This spring your student will take the Smarter Balanced in math and English language arts. Students in grades 5 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) assessment. For state testing, we will provide headphones and all testing materials for students.
It's essential to remind our students of the importance of being well-rested and fueled for success. Research consistently shows that adequate sleep and a nutritious breakfast significantly impact cognitive function and academic performance. Encourage your child to prioritize a good night's rest the evening before each test and ensure they start the day with a healthy breakfast. By taking care of these basics, we empower our students to approach their assessments with confidence and readiness. Thank you for your partnership in supporting our students' academic success.
Students will take the tests online. Our school is scheduled to take the tests:
- 5th Grade: May 20th - 24th
- 4th Grade: May 28th - 31st
- 3rd Grade: June 3rd - 7th
For more information about the Smarter Balanced and WCAS tests, visit: https://www.k12.wa.us/student-success/testing/state-testing-overview, and click on the name of the test.
