Student-Led Conferences
Thursday November 2nd is an early dismissal day, with students being released at 11:45am. GCISD has set up these early dismissal days in order for teachers to facilitate student-led conferences. The purpose of student-led conferences is for students to discuss with you what they are working on in school and to review their SMART goals.
During the conference with your child, there could be several other students and their parents conferring as well. I will be available to provide clarification and detail if necessary, review data, and answer any of your questions. Please note that this is not a traditional parent-teacher conference. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress in more detail in a private setting, please schedule a conference for another day at your convenience.
Please feel free to drop in for your student-led conference at your convenience anytime between 12:30pm and 3:30pm. The students are very excited about sharing their progress with you. Thank you for all of your help; we look forward to seeing you!
Ever See a Tiger Bob for Apples?
Here is a great family opportunity to see this and so much more!
On November 4, 5, 11, and 12, C.A.R.E. is having its annual Fall Festival. Even though they do tours regularly on the weekends for persons over the age of 13, this particular event is the only time when the compound is open to tours for children under 7. There will be games, pumpkin decorating, tiger bobbing for pumpkins, big cats playing with pumpkins, and Tiger Tug-o-War!
Come see some of the most beautiful creatures on Earth up close! Tigers, lions, leopards, mountain lions, and ring-tailed lemurs!
Here is the link to their website....

If you look through the pictures for the tiger named Selina, she is my adopted baby. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Innovation Begins with Growth Mindset
We found this article, discussing a podcast by Microsoft a great reminder about the importance of growth mindset fostering innovation. We have found that fixed mindsets can hinder students from out-of-the box thinking. We hope you find the podcast valuable!
