Weekly news for WAS Wildcat Families: Vol 2-5
Parent Homework
Hello Parents,
Testing season is about to begin wit the start of the SAS testing for Writing in grades 3-5. We will be testing next week from Wednesday, March 13th to Friday, March 15th. Being here and ready each day with a good night's sleep is important. It also helps to make sure that your child gets a good breakfast either at home or at school. As a reminder, school breakfasts in Rochester are always free of charge for any and all students.
This month MTSS has been focusing on KINDNESS. Kids have been coloring in "Kindness Hearts" as they are observed...Taking Turns, Giving a compliment, Using Manners, Being helpful to a teacher, Being helpful to a friend, and lastly, Giving words of encouragement. When all of their hearts are colored in they will put their name on a heart that they will then place in the lobby for all to see. What does kindness look like at your home? During vacation week take some time to talk about and encourage kindness in your family.
- We are sending the census forms home on Friday March 8th 2024, please make any changes that are needed and return them to school no later than Friday March 15th 2024.

Did you know that February is American Heart Month? It’s actually the 57th consecutive year celebrating it! Heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans. During American Heart Month organizations such as the American Heart Association reinforce the importance of heart health, the need for more research and efforts to ensure millions of people live longer and healthier lives.
In most cases, heart disease is preventable. This starts with you, by adopting a healthy lifestyle! Eating healthy, reducing stress, improving sleep, not/quit smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, getting at least 2 ½ hours of physical activity per week, controlling your blood sugars, cholesterol and blood pressure. Always remember regular check-up’s with a doctor is important to your health.
It’s never too early to think about your health. What better way to be a role model for your children! Expose your children to a variety of foods, involve them in meal planning and cooking. Getting active with your children could include walking the family dog, taking a hike or bike ride or even a competitive game of basketball in the driveway. Bedtime routines are crucial in developing good sleep habits. Not only is it heart healthy, it also improves academic performance. Continue to work together with your family, friends and your community to stay heart healthy!
