Great things are happening here at Thomas Jefferson
BOOK FAIR AT BARNES AND NOBLE
Thomas Jefferson Elementary will be sponsoring a book fair at Barnes & Noble in Rib Mountain. Our event is scheduled for Saturday, December 1 from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm. There will be face painting, arts and crafts, staff reading books and several activities for families to enjoy at the store. “Paw” the Jefferson Jaguar will also be on hand to greet customers.
Please make sure that when you are ready to pay for your purchase you mention Thomas Jefferson or give the cashier this coupon. We receive a percentage of the profits that Barnes & Noble makes that day when you mention Thomas Jefferson. The money will be used to buy books and incentives for our students.
Look for the barcode bookmarks that went home with students today. This should be used when you check out at Barnes & Noble.
If you can’t be at the store, you can still order online at BN.com and enter in our book fair number, which is 12396073.
Thanksgiving Feast Thank You
A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of the parents, grandparents, and guardians that came to help set, up, serve, and clean up for our annual Thanksgiving Feast. Thanks to the help of so many helpers, we were able to do this successfully. We really appreciate your help in continuing this Thomas Jefferson tradition.
We could not have done this without your help!
Thank you to:
Also THANK YOU to our awesome Nutrition Services Staff, Tammy Ricklefs, Judy Deland, and Teri Howard, and other staff within the building for all of the work behind the scenes to make this a success.
FRIEND OF EDUCATION AWARD WINNER
Mr. Dave Hartman was nominated by Meaghan Lauer, Enrichment Coordinator at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Ms. Lauer shares: Dave Hartman has been volunteering for the Blessings in a Backpack program at Thomas Jefferson for five years. He’s taken the project under his wings, including having his men’s group provide funding starting this year. Dave packs food bags weekly for students and always makes himself available to come in whenever the Program needs help. Through his volunteerism, he’s been able to provide many opportunities to our families and students in need. Without Dave, the Blessings in a Backpack program at Thomas Jefferson would not be able to provide weekend breakfasts and lunches for over 100 students each year. Dave embodies what a Friend of Education is.

PBIS Boosters at Jefferson
In our last newsletter we talked about Thomas Jefferson’s Behavior Expectations, which are “Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be Responsible.” Thomas Jefferson students are doing a great job of meeting these expectations. At our school, we think it is important to reteach these expectations to stay proactive. A PBIS booster is a reteaching of expectations throughout the school. These boosters are done as often as a teacher may see fit. The boosters are also done school-wide throughout the year. Boosters may include reteaching of classroom, hallway, bathroom, and recess expectations. We will be doing another school-wide booster after winter break. One big reminder that we will be reteaching is after school expectations of our students.
With that, we would like to share a SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT for all after school pick-up. Here are some reminders that will help in your students leaving school as safely as possible:
Keep the flow of traffic moving when in the pick-up line. Please continue to move up in the line; the students will meet you in the line.
If you are getting out of your vehicle to pick up, please park in the parking lot.
The right lane is the pick-up lane and the left is the lane to exit.
Please be mindful of the teachers who are helping direct traffic.
We appreciate your help in keeping students and staff safe during after school pick-up!

Playground News and Notes
The cold Wisconsin weather is upon us! Parents....PLEASE make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the playground. When there is snow on the ground, students MUST be wearing ALL OF the "Magic 5" to play in the snow: 1) Warm jacket 2) Hat 3) Mittens/gloves 4) Boots 5) Snow pants. We want our students to be safe and warm at recess!!!
