2019-2020 Registration
Dear CV Family,
This year’s registration process is NEW and very user friendly with a focus on long term academic planning. Please follow the process outlined in the attached slideshow.
The course selection process for current Campo Verde students began this past Monday, January 14th. Attached is a slideshow presentation explaining the procedures for selecting and inputting course selections which can be completed with your child via the parent or student portal. In addition, other important resources are provided below to assist you in making course selections. Each student will need to enter course requests into Infinite Campus by January 28th.
Once course requests have been entered, counselors will be meeting with students to review the course selections in conjunction with credit checks. This process will take place from January 28th to March 1st during math classes. Course selection is very important, as teachers are hired and classes staffed based on the requests you make during this process. We believe that you will find this new process much more user friendly and intuitive.
Incoming ninth graders will be presented the same material at South Valley Jr High on February 12th. All potential incoming freshmen are invited to Coyote Preview Night on February 12th at 6pm.
Thank you,
The Campo Verde Registration Team

AP Capstone Diploma
We are extremely excited to announce that Campo Verde High School has been selected to offer the AP Capstone Diploma program starting in the 2019-2020 school year! The classes of 2021, 2022, and all future Coyotes are eligible for the program. AP Capstone is an innovative diploma program from the College Board that equips students with the independent research, collaborative team-work, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. AP Capstone is built on the foundation of two AP Courses - AP Seminar and AP Research - and is designed to complement and enhance the in-depth, discipline-specific student experience in other AP courses.
On Thursday, February 7th, we will host an AP Capstone Information Event for current parents and students from 6 to 7 pm in the Auditorium. Please join us to learn more about this program and its potential benefits for our students.
We hope to see you next Thursday!
More information can be found in the link above as well as the following GPS press release:

Jazz All-State Winner
We are proud to announce that a member of the Campo Verde High School’s Band Program, Jaden Dupree, has auditioned and won a position playing guitar in the Jazz All-State Festival!
Winning a position in Jazz All-State is no small feat! Jaden Dupree auditioned against a number of other extremely talented guitarists through multiple rounds to win his position playing with one of the two featured ensembles for the weekend. There is only one guitarist position for each of the bands, so Jaden is one of the top two musicians that auditioned.
Jaden is a talented multi-instrumentalist who also plays percussion in our concert ensembles. He’s always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our music is performed correctly and authentically. In fact, Jaden took it upon himself to learn how to play Harp for one of our most challenging pieces on our concert in December. He’s a highly valued member of our ensembles, and we’re immensely proud of him!
Congratulations, Jaden!

GPS Celebrates Career and Technical Education Month
Students and faculty in Gilbert Schools will join others across the nation during the month of February to celebrate national Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month®. This year’s tagline is Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow! CTE Month provides CTE programs across the country an opportunity to demonstrate how CTE makes students college and career ready and prepares them for high-wage, high-demand career fields. By partnering with the business community, CTE programs are investing in students and providing them with the latest technology and skills that will prepare them to become successful employees and future leaders.
Career and technical education engages students in the classroom and helps them to understand and apply academics, which is essential to graduating students who are effective in the workplace and keeping the U.S. economically competitive.
CTE offers a wide range of careers in entrepreneurship, automotive, architecture, carpentry, medical, food and fiber production, agribusiness, culinary arts, management and life skills, marketing, technology, and engineering.
CTE students are significantly more likely than their non-CTE counterparts to report that they developed work-related, problem solving, project completion, research, math, college application, communication, time management, and critical thinking skills during high school.
Rigorous academics, 21st century skills and CTE strategies are important ways to bridge the gap between academic, employability & technical skills.

Ice Coyotes
So, you missed the first round of the hockey playoffs. What did you miss? You missed watching the Ice Coyotes score 4 goals in the first ten minutes of the game. You missed watching Cody Horton completely leave the ice to jump over an opposing player and still get his shot off. You missed a great showing in net by goalie Jake Membrila. You missed 12 goals: 2 by Cody Horton, 2 by Gavin Saydyk, 2 by Dylan Wallis, 1 each by Austin Campbell, Cameron Lowe, Stephen Sica, Ryan Mroczek, Spencer Jacobson, and Bill Grubb. You missed a great vocabulary lesson as we taught Desert Mountain the meaning of the word "demoralize" by beating them 12-2.
Sorry you missed all the fun? Well don't miss the next playoff game: We play Shadow Ridge on Saturday February 2nd at 8:20 at the Ice Den in Scottsdale.
Games are $5 for adults and $3 for students WITH ID.
GO ICE COYOTES!!!
