Safely View the Solar Eclipse on April 8!
On Monday, April 8, we will experience a solar eclipse. Solar eclipses are a mesmerizing display of celestial phenomena that captivate observers of all ages. However, amidst the wonder and awe, it is important to recognize the potential risks posed to ocular health, particularly for children. Directly gazing at the sun during an eclipse can have damaging consequences. Please remind students not to look at the sun unless they are wearing their solar eclipse glasses provided by TSD.
Looking for a selfie with the eclipse? - While you might think your vision isn't at risk because you're not looking at the sun, your phone's screen could reflect harmful ultraviolet light, eye experts have warned. Check NASA’s eclipse tracker at Where & When (nasa.gov)
We hope you enjoy the eclipse!
Got Food? Need Food?
The TSD Food Pantry is open and ready to help! Formerly located at Morse Elementary School, the TSD Food Pantry is now a job site managed by students at the Troy Center for Transition (TCT), located at 1291 Torpey Dr. in Troy. With assistance from peers at IA East, TCT students are involved in all aspects of the Pantry from soliciting donations to gathering and sorting foods in the storage room, making phone calls for community outreach, taking requests, and packing boxes ensuring the right foods are in each box. The pantry is fully stocked and ready to feed families. To request a food box and/or make a donation, you can call 248-823-8373, or email TCTFoodPantry@troy.k12.mi.us.
