Upcoming Dates and Happenings
February 6: Junior Meetings in all Post Secondary Prep classes. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the college application process, as well as apprenticeships and military information.
Snowcoming Dance
This year's Snowcoming dance will be held Saturday, February 3 from 7 - 10pm, in the FAC.
Come dance the night away to the theme of the Great Gatsby.

Coaches vs. Cancer
Please join us for our 5th annual charity basketball games, Coaches vs. Cancer, on
Friday, February 16, 2024!
- Boys Varsity game will start at 6:00pm.
- Snowcoming Crowning of this year's Duke and Dutchess will take place immediately after the boys game.
- Girls Varsity game will begin 20 minutes after the Snowcoming Crowning (approx. 7:45pm)
Our goal is to raise $20,000 together for the American Cancer Society. One way we are raising money is by selling merchandise. If you would like to support the cause, feel free to use the link below to place your order:

All Juniors will be taking the PSAT on Thursday, February 8th, in the Aux Gym. This year the test will be online. Students will use their iPads. Please make sure your student comes prepared for test day with their fully charged iPad.

FUTURES: Facilitating Understanding Through Unique Real-life ExperienceS
FUTURES is an external/non-traditional learning experience for our students. FUTURES is designed to allow students to learn about subjects not traditionally taught during the regular school day. It is also a chance for many to have an educational experience at a site that pertains to their particular program.
Goals of the FUTURES program include:
Non-traditional learning experience designed to:
- Challenge all learners to apply critical thinking and life skills
- Inspire hands and minds-on engaged learning
- Contribute to a growth mindset and lifelong learning for all students

Allegan Tech Center Updates
- Allegan Area ESA- Tech Center Open House if Tuesday, February 13th from 6-8 PM. The entire community is invited! Please spread the word.
- The Tech Center will have Mi-Winter Break on Friday, February 16th and a Staff Professional Development Day on Monday, February 19th. Early College and Allegan Advantage Students will still have class on those days.

Europe Trip 2025
FUTURES Europe Tour 2025 is still open for enrollment!!
Student travelers will have a chance to travel to Switzerland and Italy for a historical and cultural experience unlike any other! Transportation, hotel, dinners, guided tours are all included. Plus, students have a chance to earn up to 3 college credits after the tour. Alumni Hall of Fame Nominations
Wayland Union Schools is seeking input for the 2024 Alumni Hall of Fame.
Nominate a candidate for consideration by filling out the Google Form. Deadline for submitting nominations is at 2:30pm on March 1, 2024.
Nomination Criteria:
Nominees must be a graduate of Wayland Union High School
Individual must have made an important contribution to Wayland Union Schools, the Wayland Union Schools Community, or society in general
Posthumous induction is possible
Students of Wayland Union High School may be considered for induction ten years after graduation
The Alumni Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 6:30pm in the Wayland Union Fine Arts Center as part of the Scholastic Honors Night celebration.

Student Handbook Changes
Deliveries: No food or drink is to be delivered during school hours.
The only acceptable items are school related items and items needed for school sponsored extracurricular activities. These may be dropped off by parent/guardian as an exception to the policy.
Dress and Grooming: No hoods are allowed. Hats are acceptable as long as they adhere to the dress code. Blankets are not allowed during the school day.
