CANVAS FAMILY OBSERVER ACCOUNT SET UP
Our students in middle and high school will continue using the Canvas platform to manage their classwork, access resources, and submit assignments. This year, family observer accounts have been created using family email accounts on file within Skyward. This will allow you to view your student’s Canvas account and the work they are doing in their published classes.
Here's what you need to know:
Resources and Assignments: Canvas is used for students to access class resources, assignment directions, and submit assignments within one platform.
Classwork and Progress: You can check your child's assignment grades and see how they're doing in each class on Canvas. It's a convenient way to stay updated on their progress.
Note: final grades are still reported in Skyward Family Access. Canvas assignments may reflect daily practice while Skyward reflects tests and grades.
Connecting with Teachers: You can send teachers messages through Canvas as well as receive notifications about upcoming due dates and feedback on assignments.
Access your Canvas Observer Account:
Click ‘Forgot Password’ and enter your email on file in Skyward. Then, follow the instructions sent via email to reset your password.
Note: if you created an account last year, you will still have access to your student(s)’ account using the same login and will not need to use the ‘Forgot Password’ link.
You can then access Canvas online or by downloading the Canvas Parent app for mobile devices (Directions for Apple iOS | Android)
Within the mobile app, family observers can set up notification alerts for student(s) classes. (Apple iOS | Android)
View Canvas Family Observer Guides: Observer Guide - English | Observer Guide - Spanish
