Principal's Message
I encourage all parents to log into Home Access and take a look at student grades. If you have questions, please contact the teacher. Additionally, over the next week or two counselors will meet with all students who had a D or F as of this IPR date.
Lastly, if you haven't done so already, please consider signing up to meet with your student's teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences. The link to the sign up can be found below.

PTO
Tomorrow is the Monster Mash! Students had to pre-purchase tickets. There are no tickets on sale at the door. Students must have their ticket and ID to enter the dance. Please do not have students bring fake (or real) weapons as part of their costume. We will not let them into the dance with those items. Masks and face paint are fine.
Please run pick up the same as we do for after school. Please do not park in the lot and expect students to be able to come to you. Parents can park in the lot and come take their students but we will not allow students to walk into the lot as there are lots of cars coming and going. Thanks for your assistance and support keeping kids safe.

Elyssa’s Mission 6th Grade Presentation
Murphy Junior High partners with Elyssa’s Mission (a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention) to provide depression awareness and suicide prevention training for our students as part of the Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program (SOS). 6th grade students received this presentation on Tuesday this week during their ELA classes.
The SOS® program teaches our students the ACT message if they hear someone talking about hurting themselves or others: Acknowledge, Care, Tell. Please talk with your students about the importance of reaching out to a trusted adult in those situations.
The 2017-18 school year was the first year we implemented this program at all three grade levels. This year, and in following years, the full SOS® program will be presented to 6th grade and 8th grade classes. 7th grade will receive an abbreviated presentation from Student Services staff to review the ACT message. 6th grade presentations will occur on October 16th through Language Arts classes. 7th and 8th grade presentations will occur during second semester.
