4th Week of Lent
New Teaching Staff
We are happy to have a new educator onboard in our middle school. You may know him, but you may not know that he is teaching our 7th and 8th grade students religion. The man, the myth, the legend is our very own Father Gabriele!
I have heard nothing but glowing reviews from parents about Father taking the reins in these classes. Of course it makes sense because who knows better about our Catholic beliefs and the catechism than our own Pastor, who has dedicated his life to serving Christ? Nobody!
There may have been some trepidation in the beginning as students expected Father Gabriele to be strict, or mean, or scary. Turns out he's quite the opposite. It's been a joy to see Father interact with our kids, and see their relationships grow as their familiarity does.
On behalf of all of us, I am so grateful to Father Gabriele for jumping head first into the daily school operations. Teaching is a huge commitment but it doesn't stop there. Not to mention, he is losing his only day off in order to come to school and teach our students. No complaints! Father Gabriele is at drop-off almost every morning, greeting students and parents. Father plans and says mass many times a week, including all of our school masses, other liturgies, and he is currently hosting students and staff for Stations of the Cross in small groups every week. I'm sworn to secrecy on details but I have a reliable source that Father is also a mean jump-roper. If you stop by school during a recess, you might see him schooling the elementary kids in double dutch.
Change is hard, something the St. Therese community knows well. The role of pastor is so broad and important in a school & parish community. I know most of us were nervous when we didn't know who would be our new Pastor, because the unknown is usually scarier than reality and certainly in this case, but we were so blessed to have Father Gabriele join us! We all look forward to the future with him as our spiritual and parish leader.
Thank you for everything, Father Gabriele!

Spotlight on 5th Grade
From Mrs. Campos, "The 5th graders were hard at work as they researched their assigned tribes. After gathering their note, they created a display sharing their information with the students and teachers at St. Therese School during theircall day Native American Tribe Museumin the PSC. Parents and grandparents of the 5th graders were invited. Fr. Gabriele took time out of his busy schedule to visit the museum."

- All Fair Share Hours are to be completed and submitted no later than April 30th, 2024. Hours after this will apply to the next academic year. Thank you to everyone for pitching in!
- Drive slowly at all times, not just when it's busy. We have small children, teachers, service personnel and many others who crossing campus throughout the day. The speeds at which some people drive are really out of control.
- Please stop parking on the sidewalk which abuts the front of the main school building, and any other walkways. On top of the oil slicks left which create safety issues and are unsightly, sidewalks are reserved for pedestrians. We have quite possibly the biggest school/church parking lot on the east side of town. There's plenty of room.
- When exiting campus to Halsey, please slow down before stopping before the sidewalk and mind pedestrians/runners/cyclists.
Thank you for your support in these matters!
Outdoor School is coming up!
Sunday March 17th - Friday March 22nd
6th grade students will be headed to Camp Namanu this year for a week of studies and fun in the great outdoors! Mrs. Baumbach and Mrs. Wright will be accompanying students this year and you can expect communication from Mrs. Baumbach soon! This is only the second year since the pandemic that students are able to attend for a full week! Pretty exciting!
Update on 2024 - 2025 School Year Tuition
This year current families will be automatically re-enrolled for the 2024-25 school year, and should contact the office if they do not wish to continue at St. Therese. The annual $200 registration fee will be applied to your FACTS account on April 1st.
We are committed to keeping tuition affordable to all our families and financial aid is available for those who qualify. Our tuition rates are still among the lowest of K-8 Catholic schools in Oregon. Due to inflation and cost of living adjustments for all, our tuition rate for the upcoming school year has gone up to $8,600, which we intentionally kept under a 4% increase.
The deadline was previously posted as March 1st, but the good news is that families may still apply for Financial Aid.
Please use the link to the school website for more information on registration, forms etc.

Please call the office at 503-253-9400, or email Mrs. Barnett, barnetta@stthereseschool.org.
Congratulations to our St. Therese Fighting Eagles!
