September 2017 Issue ~ Welcome Back to School!
A Note From Our Principal
Welcome Back. I am very excited for the school year that is about to begin. Our theme this year is Best Time Ever. Whether in the classroom, on the playground or in the cafeteria, we want this year to be the best yet. To reach our goal, we need to create a mindset that learning is important. Your children are naturally curious. Encourage them to ask questions, explore their surroundings and wonder. In this digital age, we must not forget that while technology has its place, nothing takes the place of open communication and authentic experiences.
As a parent, connect with your school. We have built days in the calendar for you to do this. To start, our Open House is Wednesday, Sept. 20th at 6pm. While this evening is mostly informative, it is a good opportunity to reconnect with other families, establish play groups and meet the teachers that will be working with your child. Parent Conferences provide a more intimate setting for you to discuss your child's strengths and challenges. Conferences take place in December and March. Note: This year, parents will need to access report cards via the Parent Portal. A final hard copy of the report card will be backpacked in June.
Next, stay in the know by linking to our website (www.cacsd.org), like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. Although I have branched out, I am a little old school and email is my go-to for communicating events. So, if you haven't already shared your email address with me, email me at millerk@cacsd.org. I use it to send weekly building updates, emergency school closings and share my thoughts. More than often, I have a lot to say; hence, email is better than texting or tweeting for me.
I know the kids are excited, the parents are ecstatic and believe it or not, the teachers are eager to begin. During these last few days of summer, instill a positive mindset about starting new and making this their Best Year Yet.
