From The Office

It was great to see so many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We all appreciate getting the chance to talk to you about your child's progress at school.
Thanks to PTO for providing dinner and Angie Hamilton for organizing on Wednesday night!
Don't forget to order your yearbook now. PTO has included information in this newsletter as well.
Kid's Heart Challenge
It's Kid's Heart Challenge time! We completely crushed our goal last year, and I’m so excited to see how we do this year! This year our goal is to raise $5,000 for the American Heart Association! I believe with the help from all the amazing families here at Arbor View, we can reach our goal! Just like last year, our fundraiser will be completely online. Starting the week of February 21st, if you choose to participate, you can go to http://www2.heart.org/goto/arborviewelkhorn, sign up for our school, and do your fundraising online. All fundraising ends on March 9th. The prizes will take a few weeks to get here, but once they arrive, I will hand them out to be sent home. Thank you so much for helping raise money for the American Heart Association! If you have any questions you can email me at awillms@epsne.org
-Miss. Willms
If your child has been exposed to or tested positive for COVID please email arborview@epsne.org. This will allow us to respond as quickly as possible rather than going through the classroom teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.
Thanks for all that you do to support your children here at school.

Artwork at Parent/Teacher Conferences
Arbor View Parents!
Please take some time over conferences to see your child's artwork hanging in the halls! 1st graders and 3rd graders added collaborative writing to their art works too! Students really enjoy sharing their work with neighbors in the art room, I hope that they continue this practice with you at home! ENJOY!
How to engage with your students and ask them questions about their art?
-Who is the artist that you discussed for this lesson?
-What technique or skill did you learn during this lesson?
-Can you point out the theme of the artwork?
-What is your favorite part of the artwork?
Thank you so much for your continued support of our art room!

District Updates
February 2022
District Reminders
SchoolMessenger Alerts
Both the EPS District and individual buildings regularly use a parent messaging system called SchoolMessenger to send emails and phone calls to parents, including monthly information about building happenings, as well as school closings. If you did not receive a phone call and an email regarding our most recent School Cancellation, please reach out to your building secretary.
SchoolMessenger also allows recipients to “unsubscribe” from its mailing list; please understand that by “unsubscribing” you are completely removing your email address from ALL lists, including both District and building specific emails. If you have previously unsubscribed and would like to begin receiving emails again, please let your building secretary know.

From our School Nurse
Note from the Nurse…
If you received a health screen referral letter within the last few months, please visit the appropriate medical professional and have them complete the bottom portion of the letter and return it to school with your student.
Please remember to send a couple of clean face masks to school with your student(s) each day; one to wear and one in case the other mask gets dirty or breaks during the day.
Please notify the office if your student has been exposed to someone with COVID-19.
Follow district guidelines if your student has had an exposure or is symptomatic. We want to continue to do our best to keep our students and staff as safe and healthy as possible.
Here is the Response to COVID-19 Guidance_January 2022 from the Elkhorn Public Schools website.
It’s not too early to start scheduling your school and sports physicals!
Students who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall or who are new students from out of state will need to submit a physical exam and vision exam (including a test for strabismus, amblyopia, and acuity) dated after February 17th, 2022, as well as a current immunization record including the Kindergarten booster shots. Here is the Summary of the School Immunization Rules and Regulations
Students entering the 7th grade in the fall will need to submit a physical exam dated after February 17th, 2022, and an updated immunization record including a Tdap booster.
Students wanting to participate in a sport at the middle school or high school must have a sports physical completed sometime after May 1st, 2022, and uploaded to rschool. (**7th graders still need to submit a physical exam to the front office as well, as these are different systems).
