U.S. Department of Education Nationwide Call for Student Performing Artists
The U.S. Department of Education is seeking student performing artists (such as bands, choirs, color guards, dancers, drumlines, poets/spoken word artists, soloists, theatrical performers) currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high schools, who exemplify resilience, diversity, and excellence and are interested in showcasing their talent. No formal training or experience is necessary.
Climate Stripes!
If you're in Fairbanks stop by the International Arctic Research Center, on the fourth floor of the Akasofu Building, on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus to see these giant (40-foot-long) climate stripes showing Arctic temperature change from 1900 to 2021.
The International Arctic Research Center hopes that decision-makers, reporters, classes, and the interested public will use these stripes to visualize just how much the Arctic is changing and be inspired to make a difference for its future.
The building is open weekdays from 9 am - 5 pm.
