Pleasant Prairie Elementary
Prairie Dog Update 8/10/20
A Note From The Principal
Greetings Pleasant Prairie Families,
I hope you are all doing well and have been enjoying the summer break! I am aware that there are many "unknowns" at this time which can be unsettling to say the least. Please know that the staff at Pleasant Prairie have been working hard all summer learning and preparing to bring you our very best in whatever form we are expected start in September. Right now we are beginning 100% virtually. Although this past spring we had to jump right into virtual learning, we have been working closely with district leaders to ensure a top notch delivery of an engaging curriculum for all students. Virtual learning will consist of a set schedule for our families, students and staff to follow each day along specific weekly goals and feedback on student learning toward grade level benchmarks.
Important Updates and Information:
- I will post a weekly newsletter with important information and updates to our Facebook page and PPE website weekly by noon each Sunday beginning 8/23/20.
- Please check your Infinite Campus contact information to make sure everything is updated. If you need help logging in please contact the Helpdesk at 262-359-7000.
- Every 4K-5 student will receive a device to use for the rest of their KUSD school career. 4K will start off with packets until their iPads arrive. We will be post the distribution schedule (by last name/family) for next week (8/19-8/25) very soon. We will do our best to distribute all workbooks and materials necessary per grade level. If you have already been issued a KUSD device in the spring or for summer school you're all set.
- Virtual Open House will be held August 31st. A schedule is in the works and will be posted to our PPE Facebook and website.
- Feel free to use this school supply list as a guide for now if you want to get some shopping done, this is being reviewed and will be edited August 18th. Some things are pretty standard as far as glue sticks, markers, crayons, etc.
- All KUSD grades 4K-2 will use a communication platform called Seesaw for virtual learning. Grades 3-5 will use Google Classroom (access through classlink). We have added Lexia Learning Core 5 for reading skill work/enrichment through the support of our PTA as a pilot until January.
- If there is anything you are hearing or have concerns about please feel free to give me a call at 262-359-2104.
We look forward to seeing all of you soon! Let's continue to let our character shine through as we work together as a team in these challenging times!
Warmly,
Amy Riedlinger
