CTE September Field Trips
hit for my palette! The chicken was the perfect crisp for me and the honey on it
was delicious, complemented by a small side of kimchi".Jefferson High School's Digital Art students enjoyed the movie, Lumpia with a Vengeance, directed by JHS graduate, Patricio Ginelsa. The movie was filmed at JHS and other familiar Daly City locations. It also had cameos from JHS teacher John Falabella and past Principal Murray Schneider. After the film concluded students had the opportunity to speak with director Patricio and learn about the process of film making.
Oceana High School's Culinary Art students visited Pie Ranch for a Farm to Table experience. Students were divided into three groups in which they created a ratatouille salad from the garden, picked apples from the orchard, or tended to the goats. Pie Ranch seeks to help students have a comprehensive understanding of how the food we eat has economic, social, environmental and political implications—on the micro and macro level. The students also learned that Pie Ranch is located on unceded lands of the Quiroste Tribe of the Awaswas Nation, part of a larger homeland known as Popeloutchom. The land is represented and cared for today by the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and Land Trust with whom Pie Ranch is in an ongoing partnership.
JHS - Performing Arts Pathway
On September 8th, the Jefferson High School Dance students participated in West African dance and drums led by guest teachers Wade Peterson and Naby Bangowa. The room was full of energy and enthusiasm as students learned the history and culture of West African dance.
