Orientations Welcome New Students
Our 6th, 7th, 9th and new to NC students were welcomed to our Pack this week at our new student orientation. We had over 400 new students in our building for hours of team building and learning how to be part of the Pack. Our link crew students made it a huge success with student tours, classroom visits, Q&A’s, lunch and of course dancing! A HUGE shout out to our link crew coordinators, Shamerica Nakamura & Jill Royston, for their amazing and contagious energy the entire week!!
NC Football Boosters
NC Football Boosters had a successful car wash on August 13th raising $1,671!! This was very quick notice but the boys put it together well!
We have two fundraisers happening this week:
- Caruso's dinner, 8/31, 4pm-8pm. Say you're there for NC Football to earn 20% of the sales for Boosters. Click here to RSVP and see more details.
- NC Football team is selling Gold Cards now until 9/6. See a player, coach or order online. $25 in person or $26 online.
Thanks for your support of Wolfpack Football! Come out and support the team at our Red & Black game on Friday, September 2nd, at NC.
Announcements and Events
Launch Conferences, September 1-2
GOAL: The goal of Launch Conferences is to better understand your students and offer information about the school, classroom experience, and connect students and families to any resources they may need.
We are excited to invite you to Launch Conferences on Thursday, September 1st, and Friday, September 2nd, to start the school year. During conferences, you will meet with your student’s advisory teacher. This will be the first opportunity to check out a student computer. We will also have a place to issue the SPS Summer Bus Pass for students who qualify as bus riders. The new STA Connect Cards will be available in October.
If you have not already done so, please sign up for a conference at Launch Conferences.
Wolfpack Connections Launch, September 1st
NC Families: Please come to our Wolfpack Connections Launch on September 1st from 5:00 to 6:30 at North Central.
Families are invited to meet with our Community Partners, to explore the North Central Clubs and Activities available to students, and to find out more about the Family Advisory Committee, so families can become an integral part of the Wolfpack Community. Laptops will be available for checkout in our Library and Free Summer Youth Passes will be available for those students eligible for STA transportation.
Please come and explore all the many services and opportunities provided to our Wolfpack.
Middle School IST Launch
We are eagerly making plans to welcome our new 6th and 7th graders to the school this fall. NC is a family and we are excited to be expanding with new students and a new grade level.
Middle School families - check out the most recent MIST newsletter and the 2022-23 MIST Guidebook to help you get connected here at NC.
Reach out to Heidi Hayes at 509-354-6316 or heidihay@spokaneschools.org with questions. Welcome to the family!
New Single Point of Entry Process
This summer, our single point of entry construction was completed, and we are so proud of the work that was done. We worked diligently to revise our entry procedures for visitors with keeping our students safe as our primary focus. Entering the building this year will look different for students, parents, and visitors. Please watch the video below for an overview of what you can expect when you come to North Central. We appreciate you partnering with us to keep our Wolfpack safe!
STA Bus Service for High School Students
Like many districts across the nation, Spokane Public Schools reevaluated its transportation model and service options to address the ongoing bus driver shortage. After a careful review of new boundaries, routes, and stops, the SPS School Board made the decision for SPS to form a partnership with Spokane Transit Authority (STA) for increased high school ridership.
There are STA options for high school students living outside the 1.5-mile walk zone radius, as well as high school students living within the 1.5-mile walk zone radius. High school students living outside the 1.5-mile walk zone radius who also live in an area without sufficient STA service will be able to ride a yellow bus or van to their school.

Middle School Athletics Starts Next Week
Sports registration is open for our middle school students! Remember that IST students at NC can participate in athletics at their neighborhood middle school. Students who are looking for clubs and activities to join at NC will find we have lots of opportunities to get connected, even though we don't have middle school sports.
To sign up for a team, registration for SPS middle and high school athletics and activities is being done through FinalForms, an online data management service that replaces FamilyID.
This week, middle school families should receive an Account Confirmation email from FinalForms Mailman. Follow the directions to confirm and register your student. More information can be found on your school's Activities tab (select "Registration").
If you do not receive the email and want to register your student, you can find information on your school’s registration page or contact your school’s Athletic Coordinator with questions or send us a message at spokaneschools.org/letstalk.
