What Will You Do?
The main role for an Interpreter/Translator is to convert information from one language to another. The difference however, is that Interpreters work with spoken or sign language and Translators work with written.
Your Work Environment
Many Translators work from home and Interpreters are typically found working at schools, hospitals, courtrooms, and conference centers. If you are a self-employed Interpreter/Translator, your work schedule will differ on a day-to-day basis.
Education
It is typical for people working in this career to have a Bachelor's Degree. The most important requirement is that you are fluent in English and at least one other language. You should also have completed many job-specific training programs.
Where to Get Training
In the state, there are two suitable Colleges to study at. The first being Pennsylvania State University and the second being the University of Pittsburgh.
Salary
The median pay for a Tranlator/Interpreter comes to be about $43,300 per year and about $28.82 per hour.
