Mitosis

What is Mitosis?
Mitosis is part of the cell cycle that chromosomes are in a cell nucleus are separated into two identical parts of chromosomes, in each of its own nucleus.
Stages of Mitosis
Prophase
This is the first stage of Mitosis. This is where the chromosomes become visible and the centrioles separate and move to the opposite poles.
Metaphase
This is the second stage of Mitosis. This is where the center of the cell the chromosomes line up and become connected to the spindle fiber at their centromere.
Anaphase
This is the third stage of mitosis. This is where the sister chromatids separate into individual chromosomes that are pulled apart from each other.
Telophase
This is the fourth and last stage of mitosis. This is where the cytoplasm is beginning to separate and chromosomes become harder to see.
Cytokinesis
This is when the cell divides its cytoplasm to produce daughter cells.
Interphase
This is when the chromosomes are not visible, and the cells chromosomes duplicate.
Why Mitosis is important?
Mitosis is important because it produces new cells, and replaces cells that are old, lost or damaged. It plays an important part for our bodies because it is for our growth and development.
