GENERAL MAINTENANCE WORK ORDER ACTIVITY
The general maintenance team began the week with 96 active work orders . We closed 65 work orders during this week and ended the week with 70 active work orders. Great job this week!
WE ARE ON THE MOVE! 💪
The General Maintenance and Warehouse teams worked together to move furniture from building 5 to building 4 as part phase 1 of the TEAMS wing move from Saginaw Elementary to Building 5. They disassembled, moved, packed and stored 55 pieces of cubical furniture that was in building 5. They also moved and rearranged numerous desks and cabinets in support of the technology team in building 4.
WHAT'S IN STORAGE? 📦
The team disassembled and removed 9 racks from the old technology warehouse in building 5. They reassembled 4 of them in the new technology warehouse in building 4 and 1 in the old child nutrition warehouse.
HIGHLIGHTED WORK ORDER ACTIVITY! 🔨
The General Maintenance team closed out the highest number of work orders to date. These are examples of the 70 work orders completed.
- Richard Wiese and Ruben Maldonado set a 250lb safe in the purchasing area of Central Administration.
- Gene Holz broke down and moved a vision wall at Lake Country Elementary.
- Jesse Markovits repaired the block wall surrounding the football field at Ed Willkie Middle School.
- Manuel Soto patched holes in tile at Gililland Elementary School.
- Paul Williams fixed the wheels on cafeteria tables at Elkins Elementary School.
- Richard Wiese assemble a conference table and hung various items in building 4
- Ruben Maldonado resolved several issues at Chisholm Trail High School including the repair of a table top and a leaking window seal.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY
Richard has led the charge in the general maintenance department and has distinguished himself among his peers once again. He has risen to the challenge of many difficult tasks since his arrival and continues to think outside the box. Richard's skills are a great asset to the department. Thank you for all you do! B2B
HVAC WORK ORDER ACTIVITY
The HVAC team began the week with 25 active work orders. The team spent the week helping with controls for the new roof top units on several of our elementary schools. They also responded to work orders generated due to drastic temperature changes. We closed 43 work orders during this time and ended the week with 29 active work orders.
HEATING UP AND KEEPING IT COOL! 🥵
The HVAC team completed multiple work order around the district this week. With temperatures rolling like a wooden roller coaster the HVAC department met several challenges this week. These are examples of their hard work.
- Barry Davis worked closely with Chris Mendoza on installing controllers at different campuses where new RTU's were replaced during the Christmas break.
- David Snook replaced a defective wall sensor at Marine Creek Middle School
- Zach Ramos replaced a burnt blower motor and 2 defective heaters
- Gabe Garza responded to a burning blower motor at Saginaw High School
- Eric Lynn worked on a tripped pump at Prairie Vista Middle School
- Flaviano Michel worked to get the walk in freezer repaired at HCTC
- George Lutes repaired several units at Eagle Mountain Elementary
- Roger Wolfe worked on several downed units at Boswell High School
HVAC EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - JANUARY
HVAC Technician - Roger Wolfe
Roger's dedication to our district limited the damage to the Ed Willkie campus on Christmas day. His attention to detail found a unit that was frozen but had not yet flooded the area below. He and David Snook were able to isolate the supply lines and prevent further damage. He also identified several auxiliary pumps that were cracked on the 185 chiller at Boswell High School. Thank you for caring about our schools!
OPERATIONS PROJECTS
Operations Projects Completed
The follow Operations projects were completed this week.
- The broken window at Elkins Elementary was replaced by Binswanger Glass
- The marquee at Ed Willkie Middle School was repaired by Signmark and is back online
- The Elevator at Ed Willkie Middle School was repaired by EMR elevators
- Phase one of the TEAMS wing moving project was completed
Operations Projects In Progress
The follow projects are in progress
- Install new signage for the EMS-ISD Police Department - Signmark has the proofs and are working to complete this project. The target for completion is February 15th.
- Repair the damaged fence around the tennis court at Prairie Vista Middle School - Ware Fencing has this schedule to be repaired later next week.
- Repair the bent railing at Chisholm Trail stadium - Ware Fencing has this scheduled to be repaired on 1/16/2023.
- Add "no overnight parking" signs to all district campuses - Eugene Holz is working with First Place Signs to get these in production .
- Repair the sidewalk at Bryson Elementary - We have quotes from Goldsmith and Ware Fencing to make this repair. We are looking for a third vendor to quote this project.
- Repair the marquee at Chisholm Trail High School - The Signmark technicians have looked at the marquee twice including last week, but have yet to find a solution to fix the communication. issues. They think it might be the proprietary mother board. If so, the sign can not be repaired and must be replaced.
- Install fence slats on the tennis courts at Wayside Middle School - Ware Fencing has received the materials and has this scheduled to begin on 1/16/2023.
- Flag pole repairs at Bryson Elementary School - The replacement parts have been ordered from Lone Star Banner and Flag. They are due to arrive the first week of February.
- Leaking window at Bryson Elementary School - Binswanger Glass has been contacted to reassess the leaking window in the art room. They are scheduled to come out on 1/18.
Operations Projects In Planning
These are the projects that are in the planning stage. We are working with outside contractors on the following issues.
- Replace and repair the damage pave stones in the courtyard at Saginaw High School.
- Lift the sunken sidewalk behind the kitchen at Creekview Middle School
- Repaint the staff, sub and visitor parking designations at Chisholm Trail High School
- Demo the wall in the kitchen service line at Saginaw High School
- Replace a broken window in the Medellin Memorial Courtyard

Jesus Rendon has been hired to fill the open position in General Maintenance. His start date is January 16th,
