Basic info
Viruses are not cells, and cannot reproduce on their own without a cell. They have a capsid which surrounds the DNA or RNA. Some have a lipid membrane called an envelope. They attach themselves to a host cell and inject their DNA/RNA, the cell becomes a viruse factory and it makes hundreds of viruses that break out and kill the host cell. They are smaller than the bacteria and animal cells they infect. They are not cells because they do not do respiration, have no cellular structures, and do not use ATP.
Rabies
Rabies
Rabies is a disease caused by the rabies virus. Symptoms include flu like symptoms such as fever, general weakness, discomfort, and headaches. May also experience abnormal behavior, insomnia, hallucinations, dilerium, anxiety, agitation, and confusion. Every mammal is susceptible to rabies but only a few are reservoirs for the infection. When the saliva from the infected organism comes in contact with the skin of a non infected organism. this fatal disease if not treated has a 100% chance of killing the organism infected. You can only prevent it if you get a series of shots before signs of symptoms start. Ways to prevent this virus is to keep vaccinations up to date with your pets, keep your pets under direct supervision so they do not come in contact with wild animals, and call your local animal control agency to remove any stray animals from your neighborhood.
