Elmwood News (9/17/18)
Week of September 17-21
Message from Principal Polomsky
Elmwood Parents & Community~
The Back to School Carnival, held last Saturday was a tremendous success! Our amazing parents are always thinking outside the box and looking for new and different ways to bring our families together and this event is now one of my new favorites. The Back to School Carnival was a wonderful way to enjoy family time while supporting Elmwood. As we were worried about the weather earlier that week, the weather ended up being perfect as it was a nice preview of more fall weather to come. So much fun to be had with carnival games, crafts, food vendors, amazing raffle baskets and silent auction items … just to name a few of the highlights from the event.
Let’s remember, this night wouldn’t have happened without our amazing volunteers! A huge shout out to Aimee & Michael Rodgers for taking the lead on this event, to our amazing Home & School Board and to every parent, grandparent & older sibling who also came out to volunteer. Events such as this wouldn’t happen without YOU. Thank you for #MakingADifference for the kids at Elmwood!

If you haven't had a chance to sign-up for a conference yet, please do so by Friday, September 28th at 3:00 p.m.as the window has been extended. Focus 203 State of the District
Join us as we begin an important year of our two-way conversation, community engagement sessions known as Focus 203. These interactive forums foster a meaningful dialogue and generate ideas that ultimately strengthen our learning community. By participating, you can help shape our future Focus 203 sessions. The 2018-19 Focus 203 series kicks off with Superintendent Dan Bridges presenting the State of the District. Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. at Naperville Central High School and Thursday, September 20 at 9:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. For more information, please visit www.naperville203.org.
Team NEF
As of today, TEAM NEF is 200 members strong (including 90 D203 staff)! This is more than just running or walking, its community building! You may recall, TEAM NEF is a group of parents, staff, students, and community members who have decided to run or walk the Healthy Driven Naperville Half Marathon or 5K on October 21st. Half of the funds raised will go to the school of their choice and half will go to NEF. The minimum fundraising commitment is $203. You may recall that at the end of last school year, I pledged to cover the $203 fundraising commitment for one of our runners. There is still time to join TEAM NEF. Registration to join TEAM NEF will close on Sept 12th. Visit https://nef203.org/how-you-can-help/join-team-nef/ to sign up or see who’s already a TEAM NEF member. Attached is a TEAM NEF staff flyer that includes details on a staff incentive for participation through the Insurance Committee. One final incentive for those of you thinking about joining the fun… if you sign up and are the 203rd member of the team, I will cover your $203 minimum fundraising commitment!
Any questions can be directed to Wendy or Amy at nef@naperville203.org .
