Eiland Family News
January-February
Welcome!
Dear Eiland Families,
This second semester is off to a great start! Our teachers and students are working hard everyday to help our boys and girls meet their learning goals. Every month, I will be sharing this newsletter with our families in order for you to receive important announcements and to stay informed about upcoming events. We greatly value your support and partnership as we continue to work together for the benefit of our beloved students!
Eiland Student Core Values
- For the month of January, we have been focusing on "E": Endeavor for Excellence. We are encouraging our students to be excellent in all that they say and do!
News and Reminders
- 2019-2020 Eiland Yearbook: There is still time to purchase your yearbook! Please use this link to place your order. The cost is $20. The final day to place an order is Friday, January 31st.
- The 500 Book Challenge: We are challenging every class at Eiland to read 500 books! Every book that students read helps their class reach their goal! Please ask your child or your child's teacher about it!
- We are "Word Collectors": Every class at Eiland read a story about Jerome, a young boy that collects words! Jerome has inspired us to all collect words from books we read, signs we see and many other places. How many new words have you collected?
- Student Drop-Off in the morning: Instruction begins at 8:10am. Parents must visit the front office to drop off students after 8:10am.
- Klein Serves on Saturday, March 28th: Students throughout all of Klein ISD will be meeting at their schools to participate in a day of service to their community. At Eiland, students and teachers will be meeting on Saturday, March 28th to put together care packages for a local shelter. We sent home a sign-up sheet with students on 1/27/2020 where parents can sign-up their child to participate. Please return the form to school before 1/31/2020 in order for your child to receive a free T-shirt on the day of the event! We are excited to have our students participate in this opportunity to serve others.
- Field Day T-shirt sale: We have order forms available in our front office. Please stop by our school or call our front office for us to send an order form. Shirts are $10 each.
School and Home Connection
- Attendance and Learning: Please do all that you can to avoid having your child miss school. Time away from school means time away from very important learning. School opens at 7:45am and instruction begins at 8:10am every day!
- Support Reading at Home: Did you know that reading even 20 minutes a day exposes children to more than 1.8 million words per year? Every Eiland student has access to books that they can take home from our school library. Please have your child read at home every night.
- Support Math at Home: Please click on this link to access AMAZING videos on how to support your student with math at home! Click on the link above and scroll down to find your child's grade level.
