News From the Prinicpal
Dear Explorers,
We wish you a restful and refreshing spring break beginning on April 1st!
In the face of challenging weather and illness, our teachers, families and students have persisted to keep learning and engaged! We appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment to our school community. Thank you, thank you!
● We are looking forward to seeing your student on April 8th, when school resumes after spring break.
● If your family or your student needs support, please reach out to Mrs. Tang for help at 360.279.5270 or send her an email ptang@ohsd.net
As long as your student is healthy, please encourage showing up to class when school is in session. If you have questions about your student coming to school due to a health or mental health concern, please contact our nurses at 360.279.5268 or Mrs. Tang at 360.279.5270.
Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers.
Until then, have a wonderful spring break!
In partnership,
Jenny Hunt
BVE Principal

News From The Library
In March, we finished reading our Washington State Book Battle books and the votes are coming in! Stay tuned to hear about the winning book. We enjoyed reading the wide range of books from Mega Predators of the Past to The Three Little Pigs told by the Wolf.
This month is National Poetry Month. We will be reading a variety of poems and will be writing some poems as well.
Please continue to encourage reading at home!
Happy Reading!
Mrs. Ronning
Attendance Matters
Good attendance supports children to feel confident and happy about school and learning.
As a parent you can support your child to enjoy life to the fullest by ensuring they attend school EVERY day and also arrive on time.
However, if there comes a time when your student needs to miss school please contact the office by leaving a message on the Attendance line 360-279-5295 or email bveattendance@ohsd.net. If your student is going to be out for more than three days an Attendance contract is required to be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian, teacher, and Principal at least 48 hours prior to the start of the days missed. Contracts can be picked up in the office or downloaded here.
Our SOAR program began in October. Each child in 1st - 4th grades at Broad View receives reading instruction at their level. Students who receive LAP or Title reading support, resource reading support, and those on or above grade level are all engaged in small group reading instruction at the same time as their grade level peers. This prevents students from missing any core instruction in their classrooms and ensures that ALL students benefit from our Title and LAP programs.
Please look for the SOAR section of this year’s monthly Broad View newsletters for tips and tricks on how to support your readers at home.
As your LAP and Title teachers, we are here to partner with you in meeting your child’s reading needs.
