A Message from Principal Aalfs
We have AWESOME students! Today marks the completion of 10 weeks of school - can you really believe it? We have transitioned back into a normal routine as much as possible, with obvious mandated restrictions. One of those mandates is the requirements for students and staff to wear a mask inside the school.
I am fully aware of the various feelings and opinions regarding the need to wear a mask properly in schools. However, with that being said, our students have done a fantastic job with being in compliance with this directive. We consistently have around 93% of our students who wear the mask properly. We feel the need to acknowledge and recognize these students and will be doing so starting next week. I also wanted to mention that for those few students who have been reminded to wear the mask appropriately repeatedly over the past 10 weeks, consequences will also be issued to help reinforce the need to wear masks properly.
I appreciate your support in this manner. My hope is that masks will be a thing of the past, in the very near future!
Respectfully,
Mr. Aalfs
Principal

Barrington Giving Day 2021
As the leaves begin to turn and we approach the season of giving, we often think about ways to help others. Barrington Middle School - Station Campus offers our students a way to help families within our school district who are in need through Barrington Giving Day.
Barrington Giving Day is a community non-profit organization designed to distribute needed items like coats, mittens, hats, toys, books and food for a holiday meal to needy district students and their families. Because Giving Day is held at Station, staff and students have a long time investment in supporting this tradition. Funds raised by Station students and staff are designated for the purchase of gifts for middle school aged children. (For more information see: http://www.barringtongivingday.org/ )
At Station, we encourage students to “Be a Part by Taking Part”. Between now and December, there will be many ways in which students can volunteer to help prepare for Barrington Giving Day. Please encourage your child to listen for student announcements about developing and participating in fundraising events, or bringing needed items for the book drive or winter wear drive.
If you have any questions concerning Barrington Giving Day at Station, please contact Jeanne Morgan at 847-756-6494.
Thank you for your support of this community effort.

Counselor Connection - Monthly Update!
“Community is about doing something together to make belonging matter.” -Brian Solis
Station realizes the importance of a positive school community on the students’ experience. That is why the school continually works to build connections and a sense of togetherness. Therefore, our SEL lessons for the Months of November and December will focus on the theme of community. 6th graders will reflect upon how their actions impact others and how to be a good community member at Station, and 7th graders will practice the art of gratitude by writing thank you letters to our staff. 8th graders will momentarily deviate from the collective theme to participate in Xello, a career and interest inventory digital program that will prepare them for elective course selection at the high school.
Something for you!: As you are probably aware an “attitude of gratitude” has become increasingly popular. There is merit to this and studies show that giving thanks can make you happier! BStrongTogether, our community’s own outreach program, has put together a 30 Day Gratitude Challenge for you! Enjoy!
Finally, the counselors thank you! We appreciate your support and continued collaboration. We are truly grateful.

Water Bottle and Mask Reminders
Another friendly and important reminder, please make sure that masks are being worn when arriving to school. We are asking that you also bring an extra mask in your backpack in case yours breaks or is lost at some point throughout the day.
