Everglades National Park
The Everglades are the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. It has been declared an International Biosphere and a World Heritage Site. The Everglades are a network of wetlands and forests fed by Lake Okeechobee, southwest and into Florida Bay. The Everglades contain the largest mangrove ecosystem in the western hemisphere. They are home to 36 threatened species such as Florida panther, the American Crocodile, and the West Indian manatee.
Activities in the Everglades
You can participate in all kinds of activities such as visiting the Everglades outpost, hiking the Maritime Heritage Trail, you can visit the restaurant Robert is Here while enjoying a petting zoo for the children, and while you are there, you can see lots of animals that are being protected from going extinct.
