Volunteers Needed
We will need volunteers the mornings of September 25 and October 2 to help process orders/count prizes. No experience necessary. Contact Jackie Mason at jmason@cr.k12.ia.us if you are able to help or go to FALL FUNDRAISER SIGN UP.

MCKINLEY 6TH GRADERS RECOGNIZED
Police Chief Wayne Jerman, McKinley Middle School Resource Officer Anne Deutmeyer, and Cedar Rapids Community School District McKinley Principal Mr. Martinez recognized 6th graders Wyatt and Christopher for their efforts, through Boy Scouts of America, who assembled 70 emergency kits for each classroom. The kits can be used by teachers or students in the event that a child gets sick or there is another type of emergency.
The buckets are stacked with items to help teachers meet the need of students if they are locked in their classrooms or evacuated due to an emergency situation. The boys contacted area businesses and received donated items to be used in case of an emergency, including first aid kits, emergency blankets, water, toilet paper, paper towels, bottles of water, sugar packets, disposable gloves and wet wipes.

How is the Money Spent?
Money from the Hy-Vee Cash 4 Student program is used towards purchasing items for the bear paw store. For those new to McKinley, we believe in acknowledging students for exemplifying the BEAR way. Our positive acknowledgement system centers on the use of BEAR paws. Students can use BEAR paws for various incentives including pizza parties on Friday’s as well as purchasing items at the BEAR paw store.
