Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 2/ WEEK 2/ Wednesday 24th April 2024
Message From Miss Melanie
Welcome back to Term 2, I hope you all enjoyed your break over Easter (if you got one). It has been great seeing all the students back with big smiles and eager to learn.
We have lots of things happening this term so please regularly check Seesaw, Facebook, email and this newsletter. The Parent calendar has now been sorted, with all important information updated. I apologise for any confusion but for some reason the calendar locked me out and I was not able to make changes. Please speak to your classroom teacher to clarify dates if you are unsure.
Our first major whole school activity will be an ANZAC Memorial Service on Friday 26th April starting at 9.30am. This will be held on the front lawn outside Admin and will include flag raising, prayer, welcome to country and the students singing. Thank you to Miss Marina, Miss Bec and Miss Lucy for organising this activity, which families are welcome to join.
We have decided from this year that we will change Mother's Day to reflect our context of families more appropriately. This year we will have a MAGIC Day morning tea to acknowledge the love of the mothers, aunties, grandmothers and important carers in the lives of our students. Details are on our Facebook page and notes have been sent home. Please make sure you RSVP so we can ensure that we have enough scones for all who wish to attend.
Please keep Father Paul in your prayers. He is currently recuperating in Perth and will more than likely not return to Derby for an extended period. We will keep you updated as we hear what is happening. For those families wishing for their children to participate in the sacraments these will still go ahead as priests have been organised to cover the events.
We look forward to a great term.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie
Rejoicing Religion
Our Sacramental Commitment Mass will be held on SUNDAY 28th APRIL, all students who wish to participate in any of the Sacraments this year are required to attend this Mass.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will take place on MONDAY 29th APRIL at 2.30pm - Miss Margaret will contact all families involved in this Sacrament .
Special Items from Home
Please could special items of value not be brought to school by students such as toys, hats and non-uniform clothing. Unfortunately, staff are not able to guarantee that they will not be broken or mislaid. All items that students require for learning and play are provided by the school, this also includes any items that sooth anxiety or help concentration.
Items that are requested for the sharing of news, will be secured in the classroom for the day by the classroom teacher.
School Uniform
As the weather cools we ask that families ensure that their child/children have an appropriate jumper to wear to school. It is not ok for students to wear hoodies or hugely oversized jumpers, as it becomes a safety issue in class and during play times. School jumpers can be purchased from the uniform shop.
Please ensure that appropriate runners or sandals with a back strap are worn to school as thongs and crocs are not appropriate for school.
Community Service
The Year 5/6 and Pre-primary classes completed some community service in honour of Earth Day. Miss Bec, Miss Tiana, Miss Phoebe and Miss Tracy took the students to collect rubbish along the fence line of the caravan park. Members of the community driving past offered words of thanks for their hard work.
Health Care Card Discount
It is essential for Health Care Card holders to complete the necessary form immediately to be eligible for the school fee discount. Please come into the Admin to provide details.
All Health care Cards MUST be current so if yours has expired please come in and provide the updated details to Miss Jenna in Admin.
