IWHS Library FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions answered below:
When is the library open?
The library is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-4:00 pm. We are not open on the weekends. However, if you have any questions, please e-mail us at iwhslibrary@uiwtx.edu.
All IWHS students and faculty are allowed to checkout 10 items with a School ID. Items are checked out for 3 weeks. Items available for checkout are books, test prep materials, DVDs, magazines, etc.
Does the IWHS Library have e-books? Yes! The IWHS Library has e-books (available thru Axis 360) and e-magazines (available thru Flipster). You are able to have 5 e-books/audiobooks checked out a time! There isn't a limit on how many magazines you can view. You can always come to the library for assistance in downloading/viewing e-materials!
I've seen textbooks on library shelves, can we use those?
Yes! We have some textbooks that are required for IWHS students. Those books are available for your use, only in the library. They cannot be checked out.
I'm studying for the SAT and ACT? Can you all help?
The library has a large collection of test prep materials, which includes books, flashcards, and DVDs. These are available for checkout! You are also encouraged to use PrepStep for a chance to take practice SAT/ACT/AP tests. Click here for additional information.
How do I renew items that I have checked out?
There are 2 ways to renew items. The first is to visit the Library Reference desk and ask for your items to be renewed. The second method is to login to your library account and renew your items.
Where can I find a link to all of the library resources (ex: Mango Languages, databases, etc.)
Links to all IWHS digital resources can be found on the catalog page.
Can I print out my assignment in the library? Do you all have a color printer I can use?
The IWHS library has a printer that is available for black and white printouts. At this time, there isn't a color printer available for student use.
What if I need to photocopy a page? Do you all have a copier?
There is a photocopy machine located in the back of the library. Copies are $.10 per page.
I heard from one of my friends that I can check out an iPad or Laptop from the library. Is that true?
Yes! iPads and MacBook Air laptops are now available for checkout at the IWHS library. The iPads/MacBook Air laptops can only be used in the library, they are not able to be taken home. All that's needed to check out an iPad/MacBook Air is your student ID, and your library account must be in good standing.
I have my own device--where can I charge it?
All devices must be charged on the IWHS Library charge cart. Please refrain from plugging in your devices to outlets throughout the library.
Can you help me with my Blackboard, e-mail, Renweb, etc.?
Yes! IWHS Library staff can help you navigate your Blackboard and e-mail accounts. Library staff can also reset your Blackboard/e-mail password, if it's expired. Renweb questions would need to be directed to the Registrar or the Principal's secretary.
How do we use the discussion rooms?
The discussion rooms are meant for group work (2-3 students). Students need to present their School ID at the Reference Desk. Students are allowed to use the rooms for 2 mods a day. Due to the high demand for discussion rooms, students can only use the room for 1 lunch mod.
Can my group and I reserve a discussion room?
No. Discussion rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
What if I can't find a book I'm looking for?
The library catalog is the first place you should check for availability of materials. If you still can't find what you're looking for, ask one of the library staff members. If you still can't find what you're looking for, feel free to suggest new titles!
