What is Dysregulation and Anxiety? How are these connected?
Our district Mental Health Specialists will be leading families/parents in a presentation titled, "Helping Dysregulated and Anxious Students Move Forward." Together we will learn what dysregulation looks like, identify skills dysregulated students may be lacking while also learning specific strategies families can use in order to support their child. .
We will explore
- Impulsivity
- Intense Emotions
- Emotional awareness
- Decision making

- Therapeutic Recreation’s registration goes live online on Tuesday, February 28th, at 7:00pm or they can go in person that day from 3:00pm -7:00pm.

- Payment is required for registration and can be made in full or with a $10 non-refundable deposit for each session of camp. The credit card on file will be charged the remaining balance one week prior to each registered session of camp. A reservation will not be made until the full payment or deposit has been received.

- PLAY Scholarships can be used to cover the cost of one week of summer camp, per eligible participant, up to $100 or a portion of the fees for one class. Campers are allowed only one PLAY Scholarship per session. A completed PLAY application and proof of eligibility should be submitted when registering for camp
- Columbus Recreation and Parks Department encourages participation by a diverse population and accommodates people with varying abilities and learning styles. Inclusion support staff develop accommodation plans to support campers with, but not limited to, developmental and learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory challenges, autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome and emotional challenges. Judy Heumann, who dedicated her life to changing the legal landscape for disabled Americans, died March 4th, at age 75.
Known as the “mother of the disability rights movement,” Heumann organized protests, advocated for new legislation and served in two presidential administrations. She recently appeared in the Oscar-nominated documentary Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution, which came out in 2020.
