Oak Tree Awarded
April 26, 2024
Mrs. Stahl Wins the Oak Tree!
The Oak Tree Award is given each year to recognize teaching excellence in Webster Central Schools. Two winners (one Elementary and one Secondary) are recognized annually at a Board of Education meeting and each receives a $500 award from co-sponsors: WC PTSA (Webster Central Parent Teacher Student Association) and WTA (Webster Teachers Association). This year we are excited to announce that our own Titan English teacher Mrs. Stahl was selected as the recipient. Mrs. Stahl was nominated by two of her 9th grade students Mia F. and Mykaila C.
Here are a couple of excerpts from staff members who write letters in support of Mrs. Stahl:
There are many attributes that make Carolyn Stahl a model educator. Carolyn consistently displays her knowledge of content and pedagogy, enriching the lives of her students with her passion and command of the subject matter. She is innovative in her teaching techniques, open to experimenting with new methods of instruction, and constantly striving to engage her students in truly meaningful learning. It is through this type of teaching that Carolyn forms such strong and positive relationships with her students. Her open door policy means her classroom is rarely empty, and she often spends her planning periods providing extra help or simply offering her room as a safe space for students to feel welcome. She sets high standards for her classes and provides students with the perfect amount of rigor and support to help them grow as students and individuals.
I have known Carolyn Stahl for almost twenty years and this woman NEVER ceases to amaze me. Why? Because of her work ethic, willingness to improve our profession and our school community at Thomas High School, and compassion for her students. She is the teacher you want your own children to have the pleasure of being taught by. She is the person you want standing next to you when you feel unheard. She is the person who will most likely get you to spit out your lunch laughing at her witticisms. She is an original and completely Oak Tree Award- worthy.
