The Class of 2018 Takes a Victory Lap at Skyview!
About 80 members of the Class of 2018 went home to Skyview Upper Elementary School to visit with students, former teachers, and take a quick parade around the school.
The seniors split up and visited with various classrooms taking questions from students that varied from how much homework they get in high school to how to choose the right college. The Skyview students demonstrated lots of forward thinking in their questioning, while the high school students were full of wisdom - suggesting that students try new things like clubs and electives, and not overwhelm themselves with too may advanced placement courses.
The visits were followed by a victory lap around the halls, where Skyview students enthusiastically cheered them on as seniors slapped hands and got final hugs from their proud, former teachers.
As the day came to a close, a small group of students surprised Methacton teacher Pam Craig, a former Audubon teacher. The group represented members of Ms. Craig's very first class - in kindergarten at Audubon.
Congratulations Class of 2018!
Members of the Methacton High School Class of 2018 will matriculate at some of the nation's finest institutions of higher learning.

Methacton Education Foundation - Re-Launch
What is the Methacton Education Foundation (MEF)?
The Methacton Education Foundation is independent 501(c)(3) who’s only purpose is to raise funds for Methacton to create opportunities for Methacton students, enriching student’s lives and encouraging innovation, while working with teachers and students to continue Methacton’s tradition of excellence.
Why do we need the Methacton Education Foundation?
The paradigm in public school funding has shifted. We can no longer solely rely on traditional funding sources like taxes and government aid.
How does the MEF help my kids?
The MEF supports programs above and beyond the district budget, with a focus on STEM, career readiness, and economically disadvantaged students in Methacton. From funding coding tools and 3D printers in the elementary schools to robotics and the Methacton Electric Car Club at the High School, the MEF creates opportunities to enrich academic innovation in our district.
Why is everyone talking about the MEF now?
Formerly known as the Education Foundation for the Methacton Community (EFMC) the Methacton Education Foundation is re-inventing itself: developing a new strategic plan, launching a new website, re-branding, hiring a new executive director in Nikki Krelovich, and much more.
“We want the Methacton Education Foundation to become a household name. When businesses are looking for internship partners – they’ll call MEF. When individuals are looking for philanthropy opportunities – they’ll call MEF. When the district wants to implement innovative curriculum that will give Methacton students an edge, but can’t find room in the budget – they’ll call MEF,” Nikki Krelovich, Executive Director Methacton Education Foundation explained.
How can I help?
The Methacton Education Foundation is partnering with the We Run Out Hunger 5k and 1 Mile Walk on August 25th at Heebner Park. Families are invited to run, walk, volunteer, or sponsor. See more details below.
Our new website and social media channels share more opportunities to get involved and share MEF success stories about projects we’ve supported!

A Call for Participation – Methacton Strategic Plan Review/Revision
At the end of this school year, the Methacton School District will approach the mid-point in the district’s Strategic Plan and therefore seeks the community's help and input to review and revise this document.
The Strategic Plan is a blueprint of goals and objectives through 2022 to accomplish the vision and mission of the district. This document was originally developed with input from nearly 100 community members including parents, business leaders, faculty, staff, and students.
This review will include as many interested individuals as possible to serve on a committee to accomplish this review/revision. If you are a parent, community member, senior citizen, business owner/leader, school administrator, school board director, member of faculty or staff, or student - you are encouraged to respond to the call for participation. Individuals who served on the previous strategic planning committee are asked to fill out the form as well, if they wish to serve again.
A meeting of the “committee of the whole” will take place on September 26, 2018. Materials to help individuals prepare for this September meeting will be shared over the summer in preparation for this important work. Individuals who serve on sub-committees may establish additional meetings with a target to collect input and formulate a presentation back to the community in October/November 2018.
Interested in joining the planning team? Complete a very short surveywww.methacton.org/stratplanmidpoint before June 22, 2018. Selected individuals will be notified before June 30. Thank you for your interest and consideration!
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) is designed to assist school personnel in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose a barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to help students overcome these barriers in order that they may achieve, remain in school, and advance. The structure and operation of the SAP program in Pennsylvania is a unique expression of an integrated model serving the needs of Pennsylvania families and their students.
SAP is a systemic process using techniques to mobilize school resources to remove barriers to learning. The core of the program is a professionally trained team, including school staff and liaisons from community alcohol and drug and mental health agencies. SAP team members are trained to identify problems, determine whether or not the presenting problem lies within the responsibility of the school and to make recommendations to assist the student and the parent(s).
When the problem lies beyond the scope of the school, the SAP team will assist the parent and student so they may access services within the community. While student assistance team members do not diagnose, treat or refer to treatment, they may refer students for a screening or an assessment for treatment.
Methacton School District is in the process of expanding the 7-12 SAP program to include grades K-6. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, all of our district schools will be implementing the SAP program. At present, trainings are being conducted, guidelines are being developed in accordance with SAP’s best practices and SAP team protocols are being established with the support of our district’s SAP Coordinator, Maria Markakis, from Carson Valley Children’s Aid.
The Student Assistance Program, a valuable resource for our students and their families, aligns with the district’s Strategic Plan goal related to the Whole Child. More information about the SAP program or how to make a referral can be located on our district website.

2018-2019 School District Budget Preparation
The Methacton School District Board of School Directors voted to adopt a proposed final budget of $109,372,074 for the 2018-2019 school year during a special meeting of the Board on May 16, 2018. The proposed budget includes a 1.99% tax increase, which equates to an increase of .5863 mills, resulting in a proposed millage rate of 30.0448.
