Early Childhood Professions
Ms. Deb and Ms. "C"
February 2018
We look forward to reading Valentines with the preschool classroom as we share with them this special holiday. It was hoped to have a special "date night" for preschool parents but the event has been canceled due to lack of interest of the preschool parents. We will work with "Wishes and Dreams" and see if we can not help these parents realize the value of a night out with excellent care for their little one. We are hoping this event will happen at the end of March.
Discovery Channel's The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy
We experienced first hand the ages of the developing fetus and learned new vocabulary along the way. The end of the film showed an actual "C section" and "Birth". Students were amazed at this process as the instructor walked them through the stages of the birthing process.
Physical Education
Preschool students enjoyed using the scooter boards to learn where their bodies were in space. The high school students learned that directions are hard to teach when preschool children don't know their left from right hands.
Preschool students also gave the office staff a concert of their musical instruments utilizing the cues of playing "loud and soft". High School students learned that preschool students don't necessarily understand that vocabulary.
Vocabulary Study
Baby Think it Over
Students find the most frustrating part about being this parent is changing the diaper according to the State of Colorado standards. This process involves a 10 step procedure and students have exactly two minutes to complete this task. To date no one this year has been able to complete it within the time frame given by the state.
Early Childhood Profession students are up for this challenge and continue to work on this difficult procedure with a great work attitude. Continue to challenge yourself and you will become a great instructor to young children.
Congratulations are in order!
New Interns work along side past interns
We are also proud to announce that we have our first paid internship beginning in February. Dakota Humphrey will be working one morning a week at Victory Life Church in their preschool setting for parents who are at bible study. Way to go Dakota, hope this experience will lead you to your life's desired work pathway.
